Ok so this is for anyone who lives on long island:

I've made plans to have lunch with an old friend. I haven't seen her in literally years.
So now I'm racking my brain for a good place to go. I know Huntington is like THE place to go to eat on the island... but I was wondering if anyone knew of any other good places to have lunch & maybe a drink.

Normally I wouldnt be so worried about where to have lunch but she's a friend I was VERY close to and then had a stupid but big falling out with, we've been speaking on and off through myspace, email and txts again for about a year but this will be the first time we hang out again and Id like it to go well.

I have always wondered two things about Long Island:

1. Is it really that long, I mean are there any islands that are longer?
2. Do they serve thier delicious but intoxicating ice tea there - I have obviously never been to LI - but thier iced tea has put me into the state of intoxication on numerous occasions.

Long Island is pretty damn big. Plenty of parts of it don't feel island-y at all. Driving to Montauk from the western end takes about as long as driving to Pennsylvania from the same starting point.

Indeed it is long... Im sure there are "longer" islands ... but as Chaostotale said queens boarder to Montauk point is quite a hike.

The Long Island Iced tea is supposed to have started right here in my "home town(ship)" Babylon at a place called the Oak Beach Inn (the OBI if you're from around here.) They closed up a long time ago but that's where the L.I. Iced Tea began...

I personly love them, they make me proud to be from LI

I don't live on LI, but how about Port Jeff? I feel like there's a variety there, and the weather is getting nicer these days, so you may be able to sit outside...

What about Long Beach? There are so many great places in the West End that are super fun/bar-ish/outdoorsy and there are a couple good restaurants towards the East End if the weather is iffy. I love Coastal Grill and Nick D'Angelos is pretty good too (both the same owner). Himawari is a nice sushi restaurant on the East End.

Also Main St. in Bay Shore has lots of good places. I love, love, love Smokin' Al's.

There's also "The Melting Pot" in Melville, but it's way pricey and I do not recommend getting the main entree unless you like boiled meats LOL.

We are practically neighbors now Nikki. We just bought in Amity Harbor. I sometimes work in our office in Babylon. I have just started exploring the area around these parts. What's good to go to? My husband is from Seaford so there, and Bellmore/Massapequa is where we spend most of our time. We ate at Matteo's in Bellmore over the weekend. SO good, but I think it's better to go with a large group so you can get and split a bit of everything.

Hey winney just saw this...

In Babylon Shiki is GREAT if you like Sushi, The Carridge house is good for Drinks and Dinner, same with the argyle, I haven't tried armadillo grill but I've heard they're really good.

There's Ciao Baby in Massapequa on Sunrise that's gotta be a big group thing though SO much food.

I LOVE Montego Bay in Long Beach.

My Boyfriend is in Wantagh so we spend alot of time in those areas too.

Boss Croker's on wantagh ave in wantagh is a fun hang out bar.
The Library Cafe in Farmingdale is good food, and if you go on a Fri/Sat night for drinks the bartenders are cool and they make killer drinks.

There's a place called hanou in Huntington it's to DIE for food and martini's are out of this world:p yummmmmy
