Hello everyone. I graduated college last May and am in my second job since then in a new city. I am plagued by second-guessing and doubts, thinking that the grass is always greener. I find myself job searching all day at work instead of actually doing the work that I am being paid to do, and am thinking of changing fields entirely. The thing is that what is bothering me is the lack of excitement in my work life, and the lack of social interactions since all my coworkers are significantly older than I and many are so different from me that it makes it hard for me to identify with them at all. Do any of you have any practical suggestions for getting through this? I mean, do I up and leave my current decent job in search of greener pastures? How do I find happiness where I am? I am osciallating between temporary happiness and depression/anxiety. It totally sucks. Thanks for any advice you can give.

Yes! I get it and completely relate.
There is a period of time once out of college where we are going through a transition and adjustment. The initial "shock" of how young we are in the scheme of things can be quite a blow!
What I might ask you is, what do you want out of a job? What would you love to be doing during the day? How is it serving you to feel like an outsider because of your age? Certainly there aren't going to be clear cut answers to these questions.

My suggestion would be to sit back and simply enjoy making some money and being on your own for right now. In the meantime, how would it feel to start gaining clarity around what it is that you want to be spending your time doing? (versus getting yourself bogged down in the endless possibilities and options of career and job searches.)

Look to your values and you will surely find the answer.

All the best!
