If you could be anywhere in the world right now, where would you choose to be? I think I would say somewhere in Mexico, probably Los Cabos. I was looking at pictures (http://www.club.royal-holiday.com/index.php?fuseaction=home.resort&id=44) of resorts on Royal Holiday's site and it made me wish I was there so badly! Any other favorite places?

Oh, I like this thread!
On vacation with my husband, definitely! I would say either Italy or the beaches in Thailand. Actually, the beaches in Thailand. Italy is amazing but I would want to run around and see everything...right now I need the beach and relaxation. Supposedly the beaches in Thailand are among the most beautiful in the world.
Dare to dream... :)

New York. I want to live in Sunnyside, Queens. If I were sure about the job market there, I would do it in a second -- however, I've heard conflicting reports. It's so expensive, too.

I'd be driving down a dirt road in west Kansas about 20 miles from the nearest town. Making my way through the corn and wheat fields that make roads look like paths through a labyrinth.
I've always found something so positive and compelling in major cropland areas. Few people, no law enforcement, no crooks, nothing but you and the wind. And the endless fields. :)

Somewhere warm with white sand and crystal clear water!
Mauritius or a tropical holiday - even a place like the Maldives, vanuatu or even Fiji! (Haven't been anywhere really yet). Where I can swim and swim and get really good at swimming!
Snorkelling would be nice as well.
Somewhere with nice scenery.....

This sounds like my trip to the Dominican Republic last week.. I would love to be back there. So beautiful. It was my first time snorkeling (went 3 times while there!) and I loved it.

The South of Spain! Tapas, music, late nights, churros, what could be better?

I just got back from my vacation in china. And I'd love to go back to my hometown. I don't have to worry about allergies and life is just a lot less lonely over there.

Hey, that's where I'll be later in the week! :)
Do you (or anyone else) have any good tips/recommendations of where to go or what to see there?

I ditto somewhere with white sand and aqua water. Maybe back to Playa Del Carmen or Hawaii, although in light of going somewhere I've never been before, I'd like to say Barbados.
Preferably with my boyfriend and/or a few of my friends; give me a stack of books, a gallon of sunscreen, and a frisbee and I'm set.
..sigh...back to work...

Well, first, be prepared to want to stay for good. Not a day goes by that I don't want to buy a one-way ticket to the Bay Area.
Fisherman's Wharf is a tourist madhouse, but I think the sea lions are worth braving the crowd. I also enjoyed City Lights Bookstore (the top floor is where the beatniks used to hang out and read poetry) and the Haight-Ashbury area. If you're a shopper, head to Union Square (another tourist madhouse). If you have time, head to Berkeley's Telegraph Avenue, where all the hippies-turned-vendors set up shop. You can't throw a stick without hitting something tie-dye, but I think that's awesome.
Yelp (www.yelp.com) is a great site for finding things to do, places to eat, etc. Have fun! I'm so jealous!

Cable car. Ghirardelli Square. Lombard Street. Chinatown. Golden Gate Bridge. Alcatraz. There's TOO many things to do in San Fran.

Those are all really good ideas. San Francisco sounds wonderful-- I would love to visit sometime! I was reading more about it on Royal Holiday (http://www.club.royal-holiday.com/index.php?fuseaction=home.resort&id=104)'s site, and Fisherman's Wharf was recommended there, too. Are the cable cars the best way to get around?

Fisherman's Wharf is a must see. I didnt mention it b/c another poster already had. Cable cars arent the best way to get around in my opinion. They can be kind of pricey. Its worth going on just for the novelty of it and a good pic opp. They have a good transit system that is more useful for getting around.

San Francisco is fun! Going in a more "off" season worked out well for me, no annoying crowds.

Wow, thanks for all these suggestions, and1. I was researching some stuff online and realized that these are all the recommended attractions.
I'm already in the LA area so I should be in the Bay area by tomorrow or the next day, depending on what I ended up seeing. I'm definitely swinging by the Hearst Castle. :) I haven't booked a hotel/place in San Fran yet, but will play it by ear depending on what area I ended up being close to or how long a drive it'll take to get there (since we'll be driving up from SoCal). I can't wait to check out the scenery.
Thanks to everyone for the recommendations too!

That sounds nice...makes me think of sitting out on the deck of my Nan's cottage, looking out at the bay.

It's soothing, it's restorative, it's peaceful, and, well, it's home.
