View Full Version : Rooting for political parties like football teams...

Here's the thing: I try and avoid family get-togethers as much as possible, because all they do is talk about the two things you're not supposed to talk about around people: politics and religion. But as for the political part, they're all pretty much republican (except for a few of the younger people like myself who either don't care or actually want to live life and find out who they really are instead of just listening to mommy and daddy), and they will let you know this from the first minute! But that's fine if that's what party they associate with, but they take it way too far and it turns people like me off.

For example, to them the republicans have NEVER done anything wrong, in a matter of fact all the wrong in the world has been done by the democrats. A republican gets involved in a sex scandal and it's..."oh poor man, I hope he finds Jesus," but a democrat does the same thing and it's impeachment worthy! he's gotta resign from office immediately! Then they don't shut up about how great Rush Limbaugh and Hannity and Ann Coulter are, and it just seems like they're almost brainwashed and if the head republican were to take off his mask and ultimately be satan they would still vote for him. But all in all, my family can really turn people off to politics, especially the republican party!...any thoughts? talk amongst yourselves! :)

P.S. Just in case I might've given someone the wrong impression, I am not trying to solely rag on hard-headed republicans, I'm sure there are liberals out there who are just as full of shit when it comes to their political party as my family is to theirs, it's just that my family was the best example I could use here.
