There should be a ton of people from the Central Valley area that are feeling QLC pressures due to high unemployment, foreclosures, or just the suburban life.
The thing is, I just want something easy with benefits, even if that means lower pay.
You could say my bubble burst after working for a wall street firm, and reality set in. They were partly right, I was too young for that type of job, but the main thing was, I would not play their game and change my morals for their "Moral Hazards" anyday.
Can anyone relate?

I completely understand how you're feeling. I'm not living in Central Cal right now, but I just moved in August from the Central Coast to go to graduate school. I had a hard time with the job market there as well. I did manage to find a full-time job with benefits in my field (after three months of searching), but I only made $9.38 an hour, the "benefits" were a $2500 high deductible plan, and the job only required a hs diploma. And I started that job in October 2007, before the economy tanked really badly. I'm sure it'd be worse if I was looking now. I'm definitely glad to have moved.
Good luck with your job search! I hope you find something good soon.

I moved from the Central Valley not too long ago, but lived there for about 10 years prior to moving.
Still have family/friends there and the reports are not good.
I feel for anyone going through the unemployment/foreclosure mess over there. Worse yet, I don't think it's hit bottom.

Thank you for your responses! The job I am currently vying for requires just a high school diploma too, and the pay is not bad-so I have my fingers crossed.
The Central Valley, and especially my hometown Modesto, CA have been really hit hard by foreclosures and unemployment. But the upside is that we are young, and this downturn could really help us build our wealth easier than before due to lower housing costs.

Ok, I'm slightly embarassed... I thought by the central valley you meant somewhere else. The place I moved from was San Luis Obispo, CA, which is a good 4 hours south. :0 That said, it sounds like both areas are dealing with very similar issues!

My ex dropped everything to move to a little town called Visalia. Yeah the Silicon Valley sucks, but it would take a lot to drive me to move down there.
