Why is it that every time I think I am finally getting ahead in my life something always goes terribly wrong? I finally got my life together after years of self-abuse. I found a job working as a personal coach and in general I love it. I finally got back into school (nights), and am studying to finish my MCSE in my spare time. I should be happy right? God, I haven't been this miserable in years! I am supposed to be a rock for the people I support in my career, but I can't even find the energy to keep a smile on my face anymore. I feel like I am old and broken. but I'm only 25. I know I sound like I am whinning, and I don't mean to, really. I just want to know why I have this constant fear that life has already passed me by.

If you feel like you can't even smile, you're obviously not where you oughta be... Are you pressuring yourself way too much to achieve all the time? Maybe you need to pull back. You sound like you're doing enough for 2 people! No wonder you are tired. You sound like you are trying to make up for lost time from before by turning yourself into superman. Why do you feel like life has passed you by??? There is so much time to do so much more... 25 leaves you another good 50 or so years to do everything else you ever wanted to do! So many places yet to see, so many people yet to meet. Don't burn yourself out now (cut some slack- maybe go part time with school? or something), or you will be too tired to see and appreciate all the good things around you, and then you'll really think life has passed you by in another 10 years' time. :)

Thanks for your response! You helped me put things into perspective. I was feeling so sorry for myself yesterday. I think you may be right, maybe I should slow down a bit. I just get so focused sometimes that it is hard to realize that actually having a social life is an important part of being emotionally healthy.

Not likely she'll answer. This is a thread from two and a half years ago. ;)
