Since I was in High School I spent a majority of my time on school work, working and volunteering. I don't ever remember having a hobby that I enjoyed pursuing. Since graduating from University last fall, I have worked part-time and have had alot of extra time on the side. I find that I have no interest in anything and usually keep looking for more jobs so that I can work around the clock. If I could I would work 7 days a week simply because I have no idea what else to do. I feel like I am turning into my Dad.
Here is a list of somethings I have tired in the past:
1) I took piano lessons for 2 years when I was in High School simply because I was jealous of a younger cousin of mine who was budding pianist. I quit after 2 years because I was making little progress and hated practicing all alone on my touch key-board.
2) In elementary school I played soccer on an organized sports team for one year. I realized I wasn't hardly a competitive/combative person and I spent most of the time hiding behind the other players because I was afraid my glasses would break or I a tooth would fall out or feared hurting another member of my team unintentionally.
3) In my first two years of college, I used to work out everyday at the gym and I lost about 10lbs and toned up quiet a bit. My friend, and then gym partner had a falling out (stopped talking) and I lost my workout buddy. I took a year off working out and then tired to get back into but failed. I found running on treadmill/stationary cycle/elliptical mind dumbingly boring, but I didn't mind the strength training/weight lifting aspect too much. But, again I have been able to back to a gym mostly because I find it so boring.
4) In high school, I was in the theatre club. One Tuesday a month, a group of students would have an opportunity to watch the latest live production at the theatre (sometimes included some really nice musicals). I was always excited to go to the theatre!
5) I enjoy reading, but only for informational/research purposes. Sometimes I can get into a fiction, but it takes me a really really long while.
6) I love to travel, but it isn't something that I can enjoy on cheap or at a whims notice.
7) Lastly, I have always enjoyed volunteering my time to youth or to organizations in my community. However, I ofen find that I don't have much time for volunteering or rarely if ever find a group of volunteers who are the same age as me and have the same passions as me. Most of them tend to be retired senior citizens with Grand kids (fine, but not a group I can neccessarily relate to)
8) I have tired cooking/baking - but get discouraged or overwhelmed when people don't like what I cook/bake or it turns out all wrong. I hesitate to cook because my Mom shoes me out of the kitchen, secondly I fear it will turn out wrong and thirdly I don't want to waste money if I all do is chuck down the drain.
anyways, anyone have any suggestions for me? I can't imagine that their isn't at least one hobby I can enjoy?
