been getting sick of the gym so it's just as well that my gym membership expired!
I'm taking up a new obsession and have decided on Pole Dancing! I'm also wondering if I should to Yoga to increase my flexibility with it.
Does anyone do Pole Dancing here? Or have you done it...? What important things would help before I start....?
Also...where can I find some Pole Dancing shoes...I hear they're also known as "Porn shoes" or "Stripper Shoes?" It might mean I have to go to an Adult XXX shop??

I've actually wanted to try this as well...it looks like a lot of fun! Excuse me for being naive but what are pole dancing shoes?

Pole Dancing shoes are usually about 3-4 inches high! Similar to a ladies weight lifting shoes! They are also referred to as "porn shoes" or "stripper shoes." They look pretty and are quite perspex with nice patterns on them.
When you start Pole Dancing you usually go barefeet to begin with....then eventually you wear the Pole Dancing shoes which are supposed to surprisingly give you more grip when you're dancing on the pole.
Hmmm...I so have to work on my flexibilty! I've seen some pretty hot stuff on youtube, don't think I could do much of what some of them do. I'm working on being able to do side splits by November....eventually I'd like to do centre splits  Arrrrgh! It's SOOOO difficult...!

Me too, Koolkat! I'm actually cancelling my gym membership at the end of June. I've been trying to find a pole dancing class around here, but alas, I live in a fairly conservative area. Maybe when I move.... I've seen the stuff on YouTube and its surprisingly athletic. It seems like a great way to get into shape. :p
Lol, pole dancing sounds cool, but what's the point of it?
If it's to get fit and healthy, there are other sports you can do. If you want to be more athletic and acrobatic, there's always capoiera. If it's to be seductive and to spice up your love life, there are other things like belly dance (and believe me, it works;) )
And what happens when you get really good at it and want to do it all the time? Do you become a pole dancer? Or have a pole installed in your home? lol

Well, so far I've started Pole Dancing! Man it makes my arms sore! It's great fun even though I'm very unco and everywhere! Hopefully my abs get stronger!
I so want a pair of those Stripper shoes now! I'll need to save up big time! If you get good a pole dancing, yeah, I'd say you'd have to get a pole installed in your home or garage with a mirror so you can see what ur doing... Poles can be quite pricey!

One of my good friends has a stripper pole in her condo. One day, she had a lil neighborhood get-together, and this lady in her 40's was very intrigued with it, and had my friend's roommate demonstrate some moves for her. Then she tried out some moves herself. Then she tried to get her 14-year-old daughter to try it out.

It's really fun! Just learned how to get inverted. Hard work! I can see how some people can become obsessed with the pole dancing! Wow...14 is a good but young age to start pole dancing.
I haven't yet learned how to climb the pole but I'm sitting on it...is a challenge in itself! Especially getting used to the friction between the legs!
I'm trying to learn how to spin on both sides! Heheheh! :p

I love belly dancing!
I've thought about pole dancing, but I think I would end up busting my head open (weak upper body strength :0 )

why do you need stripper shoes? The only reason why strippers were them is b/c they are "sexy" not b/c they help them dance. Most strippers pratice without.

Apparently the plastic on the "Stripper Shoes" help you climb the pole with more ease because the plastic aids with sticking to the Pole! (Plus they look hot! I think!)
In my class we Pole Dance bare foot which is good. I have difficulty pointing my toes all the time though which is what you're meant to do.
I swear...I've so chaffed down there at the moment-between the legs! Hahah! I tried so hard to sit on the pole and I still can't do it without my hands.
Yeah...Pole dance is a lot of upper body strength, arms and abs! My abs need lots of work.
