So North korea is threatening to wipe America off the map, literally (which scares me to no end) ..is that a reason to quit a job that you hate…life is too short and to waste time at a job that you hate, is that too much to ask for?
We could die any day, (by accident, etc) wouldn’t you want to be doing something that you love?
Does that make sense or am I just looking for a reason to quit today

North Korea isn't capable of nuking our soil. Their technology is nowhere near that advanced. Even if they were capable of sending a nuke all the way to Alaska, that would be suicide on their part, and they know that.
All of this has been the same saber-rattling that they've been doing for decades.

While I've always been a big fan off the "life's too short" policy, this isn't a good economic climate to just up and quit your job in. If you are dissatisfied with your current position, start job shopping while holding on to your current job.
Also, as far as North Korea goes...they have always, and will always, make threats regarding the US. I'm relatively sure they just continue to do this because they want better aid packages and incentives to stop further tests. I'm not necessarily any more concerned about them today than I was a year or two ago.

MV: I don't know if you got my FM, but I saw on socialservice.com that one of my old places of employment is hiring for multiple positions. Some of them are for entry-level counselor positions that I think would be perfect for someone pursuing their MSW. In addition, my former agency also has social workers trained as field instructors, so theoretically, if you worked there, you could also do one of your MSW internships there. That's exactly what I did back in the day.

Exactly. N. Korea is no imminent threat to the Lower 48 states. Don't worry about that. North Korea does have a stockpile of chemical weapons, but they have no way of harnessing them onto a warhead, and their missiles can't yet reach across the Pacific (though I'm waiting to see what happens with the long-range test of the Taepodong-2 missile).
The owner of my company is a wealthy Korean immigrant who knows a lot of important people in Korea. Awhile back, we were discussing the situation with North Korea, and I asked him, "Is Kim Jong-Il just insane?"
He said, "No." He said that Kim knows what he's doing. I'm not sure which situation is worse.

I'm asking that question a lot these days. Unfortunately, there's that little bastard known as "self-preservation." If I lose my job, I have to move back in with my parents. Which would cause me to lose what little sanity I have. Since the last thing the world needs is another crazy person wandering around, I have to keep working. :p

Something may happen tomorrow that leads to one's death, and yes, decisions may be made based on that possibility.
Or, something may not happen tomorrow, and one may live a long time yet, and yes, decisions may be made based on that possibility.
If the decisions made from the two scenarios are different (and they may not be), which is wiser? We should live in the present, but we should not forget that the future is right around the corner.

I think you need to come to grips that there are thngs in life that are way out of your control (i.e. someone sending some nukes your way) and that you should focus on what you can control, and be cognizant of the difference between the two.
I would think that most people would rather die doing something they love, but in the meantime life goes on and sometimes people can't always do what they love doing.
