My nearly 90-year-old grandma is in the hospital, and from the sounds of it, if she recovers, she will only be able to go into a nursing home afterward - not to her home that she's lived in for nearly 65 years  I'm really upset at myself that I didn't go up to see her at her home last weekend with my mom and sister, because I had "work things" to do...I should have made the time. I was planning to go up to see her over Labor Day, but I stupidly thought I'd "have the time" to do it...

i'm really sorry to hear that.....

i know it's extremely difficult to hear that someone has lost their independence but the most important thing is that she gets out of the hospital as soon as possible and fortunately it sounds like she has relatives to be with her, including you.....

i wouldn't beat myself up over last weekend because we never have any way of knowing what will happen from day to day and the thing to keep in mind is that when you visit her, she will truly appreciate it.....

i had a 96 year old great-grandmother who was dying and a few of my cousins never showed up even though they had weeks to do so.....and it wasn't that they were busy or had something important to do, it was more like they were indifferent about it....the fact that you care enough to think about it and you will go see her is something very nice in my mind.....i wish her the best and good luck with everything.....
