I just need to rant for a minute and get this out there. I have this supervisor who doesn't seem to be able to let go of any project or delegate (even with his favorites).
We have two huge programs coming up next week. We all had sort of random jobs to set things up and whatnot. I got the program brochure design. He said that I have control over it, that it's "creative vision," and that he would let me know if there is something that he'd like to change. I sent him the final pdf with some things that he needs to fill in. When I happened to ask about it a moment ago, he's gone and changed the design without asking or even telling me.
I have no interest in these programs next week. I feel like I barely know what's going, like this supervisor tells all of us just enough to show up at the right time and place and do the dirty work. Grrrrrr.

And I just want to say that writing this totally did help me feel better. :0

Glad you feel better.

I had a boss that was like that too. She would want me to complete a project, then she'd go over it and change nearly everything I did. To eliminate this, I simply pressed her to be crystal clear on what she wanted the first time. Then I would produce that. If she avoided being clear, then I simply told her that I would have no choice but to complete the project the best way I saw fit.

Thanks for the advice FloridaGirl! That sounds like something that could work for him in the future. He's a real control freak, so I think he just wants people to do it his own way. I'd rather have the freedom to be creative, but I also really don't want to waste my time when I have other more fulfilling projects to work on. Thank you!
