you were all so pressured to choose where your careers. instead of really thinking about a life time living you thought about what you enjoy and you went with it. that was the problem. i did not do this. teachers badgered you with tests and speeches to choose your career when youre in school, HOW IS THIS POSSIBLE WHEN YOURE STILL A TEEN WHOSE GROWING. the system is screwed. teens growing at the pheominal rate like that cannot make such decisions. i ended up dropping out of highschool for now because i just sensed it wasn't correct. all the work was for nothing. it was all trivial. you were forced to take classes that didnt interest you. somehow people got the idea that if you didnt choose your career while you were in highschool that you were going nowhere. maybe that was correct, and thats whats wrong, yer too damn young to have any idea.

While I agree with you, I think there is another reason which is at least equally culpable for the problem of QLCs- and that is, that we belong to the generation with Too Many Choices- by that I mean that there are endless options and possibilities "available", at least to those of us who are lucky and do not live in third world countries or countries in war. Note that it is only people living in reasonably wealthy countries (US, Canada, Western Europe, Australia etc), who are above the poverty line, who are not in danger of dying everyday from war, etc who get all excited about a QLC. Basically, we are pretty spoilt- in theory, in this life, we can be anything we bloody like (or so we are told)- although this is obviously limited by our individual talents and levels of determination and drive and a lotta luck too. I am not diminishing the stresses and pressures that are associated by QLCs, but at the same time, I think we should recognise that it is a reflection of the higher expectations of the people of our generation in more privileged countries.
