"Sorry, aolisevil143 is already in use"

omg i hate them i hate them i hate them! my mom used them years ago and she wanted to cancel the service. they transferred us to the upgrade to broadband section and we spent 35 minutes there listening to a sales pitch. they just don't let you get a word in edgewise. an hour later we finally got rid of the stupid service. i don't see what everyone likes about them. plus they're really expensive and are always crashing.

I totally agree, and passionatlly hate aol. I dediced to use thier services in grad school, and got something else, and they make it very hard to cancel services and they kept on billing me even though I wasn't using aol anymore. I don't like them!

LOL. i was just talking a coworker about this today; he said after being on the phone w/ them for an hour, they wanted to give him up to 6 months of service free just b/c he wanted to leave so badly!!
Also, my sister told the woman off so bad on the phone when she tried to quit that by the end of the convo she was basically told don't bother trying to come back to them for service :p .

I quit the service...but luckily my screen name is with my mom's account, so I can still keep my email addy...unless she cancels their account. I just use the webmail.

aol is not all THAT bad. one plus is that you can get your mail anywhere and on new cell phones.

Yes, I love the fact that you can go anywhere and check your email :) The only reason I got rid of the actual program and the service was because I got DSL and didn't need the service to access the internet.

there are free forwarding services you can use that will send anyone an automatic email with your new address if they mail you at your old one. there's one called plaxo or something that a friend of mine likes.
