Just thought this might make a Friday go by faster.

I was just watching Charlies Angel II last night for the first time. I thought it was great but I liked pretty much the whole cast. :-) Maybe thats why I am in such a great mood today, who knows?! I haven't really been reading lately so I can't comment on that.
I just got the most recent Weezer cd and absolutely love a majority of the songs, I tend to like songs after I listen to them awhile, so I'm sure in a couple of more days, I'll really love it even more.

I think I might go see The Anchor this weekend, its supposed to be a really funny movie and I think Will Ferrell is absolutely hillarious!

Have you seen any movies or old movies/books/music that you absolutely love, what is it about? Who's in it?

Was it the green CD from Weezer or have they come out with another one since then? I LOVE Weezer. The blue one was my soundtrack to high school. I am thinking about renting a movie tonight but there aren't really any new releases that I want to see. I saw Cold Mountain in the theater - it was awesome. I have also seen Starsky&Hutch, Dodgeball, and Spiderman 2. My husband is a big fan of Ben Stiller. I want to go see Stepford Wives but I heard it was terrible. My friend and I are having girls night but don't feel like going out so we are going to rent movies and make guacamole and eat pizza and drink wine. I guess we should opt for beer with a menu like that but - it is so fattening! Anyway - back to the subject - Along Came Polly was pretty funny too. Any recommendations?
As for books I am reading 42nd Parallel by John Dos Passos and The Nanny Diaries (can't remember the author). The Nanny Diaries is a great summer beach/pool book.

I think Maladroit came after the Green album. The blue album is still my fav, 2nd to pinkerton.

Some friends and I are roadtripping up north for a wedding at the end of the month, and the car we're taking only has a tape deck...so I've been put in charge of making the mix tapes for the drive. I've been having so much fun with it, and feeling all old school. I highly recommend. It's so much more labor intensive than burning CDs, but it's also fun and escapist.

Thus far, I've compiled a "Chicks with Pipes" mix, which features female vocalists from Ella Fitzgerald to Nina Simone to Janis Joplin to Grace Slick to Dusty Springfield to Debbie Harry to Sinead O'Connor to Bonnie Raitt to Lauryn Hill to Mary Chapin Carpenter to Pat Benatar to Alicia Keyes to that chick from Evanescence.

A ultracheesy singalong power ballad mix is also in the works...thus far, "Can't Fight this Feeling Anymore," "Faithfully," "You're the Inspiration," "Don't Stop Believing," "In Your Eyes," all got slots before my cappuccino wore off last night. Open to other reccs...I probably have it on hand.

As far as books, I just finished a book called Separation Anxiety by Karen Brichoux, which to judge by the cover is chick lit/ beach read. In reality, it's a bit more literary than most, and explores darker (but not too dark, it's also funny) territory than most of that cadre. Good read.

I always plug it, but the novel "The Dive from Clausen's Pier" by Ann Packer is a terrific read, esp. for QLC people.

Hmm, movies. Summer is my least favorite movie season, because I as a rule eschew blockbusters. BUUUT, I have to admit that the blockbustery movies this summer have been good...esp. Harry Potter III and Spidey II.

Cold Mountain is out on video now, and it was really good...should have seen that one in the theatre.

I forgot about Harry Potter - I loved that movie. I have a ten year old little brother who is so into it - he was Harry Potter for Halloween. I have gone home and seen them with him on opening night. It is our ritual.

I have been getting so into 80's and 90's music lately. I made the most massive mix mp3 cd the other day with Nada Surf Popular, She's Fresh - Kool and the Gang (that Gap commercial song), Orgy - Blue Monday, etc. I can never remember the names of all the songs I used to love and then I found the website alaskajim.com that has every possible chart from every year/decade, etc.

That sounds like a great CD! Lately i keep saying i need to dust off some of the old CDs... but lately i've been listening to Liz Phair, I love her new cd.

Books i've been slacking, reading fluffy summer stuff.

TV have been watching I love the 90's. It's so stupid but hilarious. I'd forgotten about some of that stuff :)

Movies I tend to see a little bit of everything since i pretty religiously go every week...

I Love the 90's IS fun...more for the commentators then the actual stuff they're discussing...I think they're really pushing the retro-ness this time around. But I do have to say that my dream best guy friends are Hal Sparks and Michael Ian Black. Too funny!

Unfortunately, as far as No Doubt, the carload is predominantly emphatically anti-Gwen Stefani.
