Okay, if you don't dance on a pole or park cars for a living...if you couldn't care less what night The Beach hosts their wet t-shirt contest...if you don't think Studio 54 is "cool"...we want to hear from you.

A couple of us are trying to resurrect a support group for the area. We feel your pain! We know what it's like to be the only person you know who dresses up to go to work. We understand how tourists ask you which club you work at. We know what your family thinks of you living in Vegas! There are more people out there, just like you.

If you are a professional, twenty-something, lost soul in Sin City - speak out! I know you're out there somewhere...

Yes, if you're tired of silicone queens (and kings) who seem to dominate the scene, and if you've ever wanted to beat one of those valet boys with a stop sign because they make $75,000 a year and you don, then please join us! Your voice needs to be heard!
Vegas Kat and I are looking for a few good 20-somethings in the Las Vegas area, who want to hang around real people for a change, dealing with real problems and real life in general.

I'm actually getting ready to interview for a job in Vegas. What is it like to live there and get "dressed up for a living?" I've never even visited as a tourist, but have to admit that many of the things you listed were keeping me from considering the job as a real possibility. I'd love to know what it's like for the non-silicone Queens...thanks.

Unregistered,
First, good luck on your upcoming interview!
Second, in regards to dressing up, sometimes it can be a good thing, and other times you wonder why you even try. Vegas Kat has to dress up in business formal, and in this heat that can be murder. I get to get away with business casual, but still it's a bit of a bummer when you are driving to work and you see people our age in tank tops and shorts reporting to their jobs. Vegas is a very blue-collar town, and it reflects in the kind of people that work here. Granted we do have UNLV, but for the most part, there aren't that many white-collar jobs around here.
Don't get me wrong though, Vegas is a great place. Once you learn to separate the Strip from everything else and get a good circle of friends around you, the possibilities are endless. Just don't get intimidated by all the silicone queens and all the 'perfect' people around you when you're here.
btw, you should email both Vegas Kat and myself if you get the interview. We'd be happy to show you around and help you get started here. My email's dwbaldwi@yahoo.com and I believe you can email Vegas Kat from this site.
Hope your interview goes well and that we get to see you soon!
