Ok, so there is this guy I want to ask out. But I feel like a dumba** about doing it!
Little background:
He works in the leasing office at my apt. complex. He is really nice and always jokes around with me and calls me his "favorite pain-in-the-a** resident" and compliments me and tells me cool places to check out in the area, ect.. I would love to hang out with him, but I am totally afraid to ask or mention it! I see him only a couple times a month (ok- so if I have to go up to the leasing office, i do it on a day he is working-- I am a looser, I know!)
I also don't know what his situation is (like if he has a girlfriend or something).
Help!

The next time he mentions a place/event/etc that you should check out, could you say, "Do you plan on checking it out? Let's go together." That way, it's low-key, and if he has a GF, he'd hopefully say, "Oh, I'm going with my GF." Then you'd know.

I agree - he totally opens himself up to being asked out - he probably isn't allowed to ask you out. Next time he mentions a cool place to go ask if he is planning on going that night and say you'd love to meet him up there. Then get a friend and get beautiful and go up there. It is easier to flirt in a bar scene than over the drying ink on your rent check.

I also didn't know if it was against like the "leasing-code-of-ethics" or something for them to go out with a resident.

Well, you never know...Iwanttoscream wasn't saying it definitely IS wrong for him to do that, but it might be a rule. No fraternizing with the tenants, or something like that.

If it's not allowed in his job description, I'm sure he'll tell you.

I actually used to have a HUGE crush on the guy that I leased my apartment from. I am pretty sure he liked me too but I had a boyfriend. He used to come over all the time and we would drink at the pool together and go to out to bars. He did end up dating a resident so I don't think it is against the rules - it is just not good office protocol to ask someone out while you are at work - "Your rent is late and you had a noise complaint - what are you doing tonight?" If you initiate it and you meet somewhere else then I can't imagine the apartment manager would have a problem with it.
