So we get a lovely little e-mail today from Corporate, stating among other things

"In reviewing the job descriptions within the company, many do not reflect what the person in the position is doing on a daily basis and they do not meet the government requirements. Today we will be distributing a packet that is requesting your assistance in completing information about your current position so that we can develop job descriptions that accurately reflect what you do and meet the compliance requirements of the Federal government. "

Basically it's a long ass survey asking us what we do at work. I do nothing. When I started with the company I was told I'd be doing all this stuff, but none of it has ever been turned over to me!! I'm freaking out here!!! Called my mom and her response was "Well, you're planning on going to law school next year so don't worry" well, yeah that's the plan-but I'd still like to have a job until then!!!

I'm thinking of "American Beauty," when Lester has to write a description of his duties...
I'd love to write that to my boss!
"... my job consists of basically masking my contempt for the assholes in charge, and, at least once a day, retiring to the men's room so I can jerk off while I fantasize about a life that doesn't so closely resemble hell."

They might be doing surveys of jobs at your place because of the new overtime law. If I am correct it just became effective on August 23rd. Depending on how much you make yearly or weekly, Human Resources may need to do an analysis of all of the job descriptions to determine whether your position should be exempt or not. I wouldn't sweat it...yet. Hopefully it's nothing.

It's not that I'm lazy...........it's that I just don't care. :)

You might try exaggerating a little and filling in the survey as you would fill in your resume. Be imaginative.

EX:

Plain Truth: Your boss makes you get him/her lunch everyday.

morphs into . . .

Super-truth: You organize catering for frequent office events.
