are you making the most of your time at this age? i'm trying to do as many different things as i can right now, just so it feels like i've LIVED some. things are only going to get worse, responsibilites are going to pile up, and what freedom i have now is only going to diminish. there are so many things in the world i'd like to try. even if it's just once.
that's it, i'm takin that freakin' salsa class i've been putting off for ages.

You're gonna charm Wordsmith's pants off by quoting Mellencamp lyrics. I hope you realize that. :)

Funny you should bring this this subject up because I was just thinking about it this morning on the way to work. I don't know how you're supposed to live life to the fullest when your day is work dominated by working and fulfilling responsibilities. Just think about it for a second. Every day you spend is a day you'll never get back. Truly, we should capture each day, seize and and use it for all it's worth. Every night I find myself thinking "how will I remember this day? did I truly LIVE today?" And every night the answer inevtiably comes back "no, not at all".
To make it even more depressing, I have to go to work everyday to make money to support myself; what's the alternative? Being homeless on the street?
I guess you could take a page from Nike and just do it, but who the hell has the financial resources to just go and do anything they damn well please? Things like salsa classes require money.
I don't know man but if anyone comes up with an answer to this please let me know.

Sagiquarius' post really sits in line with my recent bitching (http://www.quarterlifecrisis.com/forums/showthread.php?s=&postid=64046#post64046) about how a job/career (supporting yourself) eats up your useful life. How little time will you end up having with your loved ones when you are robbed of your time 9AM-5PM, five days a week?
What are your alternatives? Not eat? Have no health care? There don't seem to be any alternatives.

That's exactly what I've been doing lately...taking Nike's advice and "Just Do It!"
I've also been spending a lot of time thinking about that and thought to myself...why am I overthinking a lot of things in my life rather than just jumping in and doing it and see what happens. Like the situation with one of my friends and wanting to start a relationship with her. It was an extremely touchy subject and if you'd asked me a few years ago, I would have said no way, I can't do this and take that on. And after we visited each other for dinner a month ago, I just sat there thinking to myself, "Damn, she's still so hot and I still really like her" but also kept thinking, it'll never happen. But then I thought, what the hell? I called her, told her I liked her and I was absolutely ecstatic when she told me she'd been thinking the same thing. Now we're trying to work out how this might work and one of the things that was the biggest lesson for me was "just doing it". I got a lot of help from my QLC friends on this board about how to do it and did it. The thing that makes me feel great is that I finally took the bull by the horns and did something for myself that made me feel good.
I hope that you have many exciting situations where you "just do it" and do what your heart tells you to do rather than your head, if that makes sense. Hope so! ;)

They're easily one of my favorite bands ever.

They're a TX band, circa 1990-2001. "Tyler" is actually a song of theirs, but I figured they would be well-known in general around TX as opposed to the northeast here.
Oh well.

ZZTop though... :)

Yeah, Better Than Ezra's nothing in general to cancel plans over, but they have this one song...circa about 1998, maybe, that's got the BEST lyrics and feel. It goes on all my mixes.

P.S. I saw U2 at Madison Square Garden a few years ago. Ever seen them live?
P.P.S. I've been RIDICULOUSLY off-topic all over the board today. Sorry! :(

Nooo, I have never seen U2 live...but I was at their club in Dublin when Larry Mullen stopped in.
I narrowly missed the Elevation tour in Chicago in '01 (it was Mother's Day, couldn't neglect my mum).
The Better Than Ezra Song is called "This Time of Year."

No, no, I'm bringin' it all back from the threadjack!!!
The song I mentioned, This Time of Year, is EXACTLY about embracing the thrill you think is gone.
See, I can make it all come full circle.

i know, i know, reality bites you in the ass with bills and rent, so you do need to work jobs that you hate to make ends meet. i'm just saying that i'm going to do what i can to make the most of my youth. i've gotta at least try, right?

They are from New Orleans. I only know this because it is my husband's favorite band of all time and the band we went to see on our first date. According to one of his best friends that lives in New Orleans, they play almost every week at random bars. That is our next vacation destination.

Do you really think this is true? Honestly, it seems like my life just gets easier as time goes on. Just think about it. The older you get the more money you're going to earn (hopefully). As time goes on you'll gain more work experience, and therefore, hopefully have more autonomy and options regarding your career. As far as I'm considered there is no where but up from here.
