I got a job as a prep cook at Friendly's. The hours are bad, the pay is even worse. I'm probably going to bail out and just go back to school. Anyone else got a job that they hate?

Um, I think almost all of us. It's the American Way.

Then again, I suspect that working at Friday's is an unusually sucky job. Do you have a degree?

I went to college. Had to take time off from it because of family reasons, that and I couldn't afford the rising tuition costs.

Well of course I know nothing about your personal situation, but my immediate reaction is to tell you to go back to school.

Join the club. I've been working as a p/t nurse aide for a little over 3 yrs. now. I absolutely hate it only when the clients are giving me a hard time. I'm trying to find another p/t job since I hate my employers, they are so disorganized & don't run things efficiently. I wish I could just tell them that I quit, but I can't until I find another p/t job & there's no way I'm going to continue working for them for next yr.
I LOVE Friendly's!!!! But, I can imagine it not being the best place to work - my roommate in college used to waitress there when she was in high school, and she has told me many a nightmare story about coming home with ice cream all up her arms from having to make the sundaes herself!
They definitely don't have Friendly's out west - it's based out of Springfield, Mass. My other roommate in college was from Seattle and the two of us from the East Coast talked about Friendly's like it was heaven, non-stop for 4 years, until one day, close to graduation, the Seattle roommate rented a car to move stuff into her new apartment and go shopping in Northern Virginia at IKEA and Target. Anyway, as I ramble on, let me get to the point here... we took her to Friendly's and she just didn't get it - I think you have to grow up loving it.
Sorry to get off the topic - I am so easily distracted by food - especially sundaes - I think I need to go out and get one, now - dammit!
Oh, but they might sell Friendly's ice cream in your grocery stores out west - the have the sundae shoppe ones with all sorts of candy and fudge and stuff in them - yum... okay, definitely going out to get one now.

I really like my job, but I get paid very little. I'm getting sick of not being able to do anything!!! AHHHHH!!!! I've only been there two months tho, and my position has already evolved a lot. So maybe I'll get a good raise after three...
