my last year of university (2001) my best friend & i used to buy a bottle of wine (being in the Niagara region!) every weekend to chill out & party. one weekend - the girl ID'd me!
this past weekend i bought Moosehead (a good Canadian I am!) & the girl ID'd me: i freaked! she told me she ID's everyone under the age of 18. i pointed @ my guy, who for the record is 24 & i'm 25, "you didn't ID him! & he's YOUNGER!" i was still bitching on the way to the car & this 40+ guy smiled. *laugh* i've been legal for 7 years!
who else faces this? ppl keep telling me i'll be happy in a few years: we'll see! *wink*

I get IDed all the time. Sunday I bought a big bottle of beer at the grocery store so I could marinate some meat in it---I got carded for the beer. It was with $40 of groceries! What the hell? Did they think I was 20 and wasting my money on portabella mushrooms and tampons in order to slip that big bottle of beer by them?

I'll be 30 next month, and I get ID'd everytime I buy a beer or wine. Everyone says to take it as a complement but - come on!

I hardly get carded when I buy alcohol, but when I go to bars I get carded all the time unless I know the person working the door. It just happened to me this past weekend. The guy looked at my ID for like 5 minutes and the proceeded to ask me what my social security # was. I recited it and practically threw it in his face. Haha. Sometimes it irritates me that I get such a hard time, but most of the time it doesn't. I guess that I should be thankful that I'll be 26 in a few short weeks and I still look 18!

Ya know, I am 26 and I would rather be carded than not...when I am not I feel super old!! I went to a bar a while ago with like 5 other girls, the first 3 were carded, I was not, and the last ones also were....I wanted to go back down and show the bouncer my ID so I could 'prove' his instincts were right!!
I use to work in a grocery store and the policy there was if the person looks under 40 you need to card, so really if they dont card you what is it saying?? you look old, not you look too young!!! Thats how I see it!! Put a positive spin on it. Now if you have grey hair and they still card, then we can talk :)

I have an amusing take on this issue. I turned 25 around Father's Day. One day I went to a bar and got carded even though I was the only one there and I sat at a table for a meal! The next day I went grocery shopping. I had a hand cart full of groceries to last me for 2 weeks. as I was pulling this cart down the sidewalk on the way home with the toilet paper rolls on top, 2 middle-aged women wished me a 'happy father's day'. They must've thought I was shopping for a family of four. I didn't have the heart to tell them all the food was for me. What a confusing weekend!

A year or two after turning 21, I hated to have someone card me. However, last weekend, my best friend and I went out for a late dinner and we were both carded. We had both turned 26 a few days before. We discussed this matter with another friend the next day and noted our attitude change. The closer we get to thirty, the more we wish people would card us. Also, another encounter I love to retell was the afternnon I took five of my students to TGIF's. I grabbed the drink menu from a busy body student as the waiter approached the table. HE said, "Put that down, you know you are not old enough to drink." He earned an extrememly large trip after that one and also provided my students with a good laugh (anyone over 21 is ancient to them.)

Well, I'm 27 now, and I still get carded from time to time - it is pretty annoying! Only thing I can suggest, as a guy - I grew a goatee here a while back and it seems to be cutting down on the problem. Only one drawback - now when I pull up next to a couple of young, attractive females, thinking I'm gonna "hook-it-up", their response is usually, "Excuse me SIR, can you tell me how to get to........" Man, that drives me crazy! Honestly, given the fact that I'm dreading each year closer to 30, I wish I were younger!!

well, i don't drink alcohol, and therefore don't buy it, and therefore don't get carded for it...LOL...
but how pathetic is this, i still occasionally get carded at R rated movies!!!! i'm 23!!! it's quite irritating. i was grumbling about it to one of my older friends one day, and asked, "when is getting mistaken for a 17 year old going to start feeling like a compliment?" her reply was, "when you're too old to be mistaken for a 17 year old." haha!
then there was the woman at the drugstore who wouldn't give me a discount card because she didn't think i was 18...
and let's not talk about the time last month when a waitress gave me a children's menu.... sometimes i get all offended. other times i just shrug and reach for the crayon cup. ;)

I constantly gat IDed! It's not so bad as I get older though, I'm 24 and am okay with it now!
