Elections in Afghanistan

Elections were held in Afghanistan....WOW! This is a MAJOR accomplishment and I am shocked that it is not getting more press. Of course it is a positive result of our efforts in that part of the world, which is probably why you don't hear much about it in the mainstream media. Where are all of the pictures of the lines of people voting? Or the pictures of the women getting to vote?

I think it is also quite telling that there were threats from the terrorists still grasping onto what little power they have left in that country...threats to kill anyone that voted. And there were ZERO terroristic events during the elections. All talk and no bite!

Your thoughts on this momentus event?

It was great to see--but it's sort of sad that no one will know who's won for another month or so, with the time it will take to collect and count the ballots.

i actually saw a bunch of news coverage on it (including the lines of women, etc.) but that was all on CNN....

Amazing to see all those people willing to vote -- men and women! Interested in the outcome... even though it's going to take a while to find out.
