Have you guys ever considered limiting who can view what we all write to those who are members and logged in? I am sure there are pros and cons for both ways, but I was just wondering.

I think that would go against the inclusionary purpose of the site.

But anyone can join - maybe they'd show just the titles of topics to non-members or something, so they can see if they want to join? I just think that it would give us all a feeling of a little more security.

I think we ought to ditch this internet thing and move everyone in to one big house...Real World style. :D

No...but I would single-handedly vote each of you off since I would get more votes.

Sorry, CK, but we formed an alliance and you're already gone.

The boards have spoken...

Yeah, well you know the part where Jeff says, "I'm sorry, bring me your torch?" I burned every one of you mf's with it on my way there (which I would do if I were actually ON Survivor...not sure why no one has done that yet...).

i believe vbulletin software is being used right? im not sure you can limit to jsut subject. you have to make sections un available. either way i think that kinda contradicts what is going on here. what about the lurkers that dont feel comfortable enough to post and really dont want to sign up but they enjoy the advice given by people on this board, i dont think we can exclude them. i was once a member if this population and even though i never posted found help from this board.

I agree. I think this site should be open to everyone.

Yeah...everyone just needs to not lose sight of the fact that no matter how comfortable you get with regular posters or the community-like format or whatever, this site is public, and there is inherent risk involved. If by risk, I mean not really having control over who reads and responds to your stuff.

basically if we want something semi-private we need to pm or if we do something else like our picture board, Just post a notice that we are doing it and give passwords and such by pm or email?

People don't have to take a blood oath, whack anyone or give away their credit card number.

They just give their e-mail address and name. And who knows? That could be false anyway.

Afraid of spam? Create a second Yahoo! account. Have the signup confirmation sent there. Click on the link, write down the ID and password, and never check that e-mail account again.

I don't see the problem.
