Why is it that every guy I like and start dating I find out is Republican? Is this like some kind of cosmic irony? :p

Wow. Way to quote sage Paula Abdul. All I know is, life was a helluva lot easier when that song was popular.
I, too, have a startling record of dating Republicans. As long as you agree not to bait each other, it tends to be okay...

Are you serious, or just shit-stirring?

Hmm, I don't think Ann Coulter's hott, but I DO think Jack Ryan is, and he's not only a Republican, he's of "questionable moral character," to boot!"

Nothing in common
But there's trust
I've got the magic
She's got the touch
One goin up
One goin down
but we seem to land on common ground
If things go wrong, we make connections
To keep things moving in the right direction
Try to fight it
But its useless, Jack
I'm tellin u
Opposites Attract
We ALL know that cartoon cat (help with his name?) MADE that song....is all i'm sayin.

i feel this thread is sort of insulting. maybe the last guy you met said "Oh damn, she's a democrat. That's a deal breaker."
and1grad
11-08-2004, 02:43 PM
I dont think its meant to insult...like being a Rep is a tragic flaw. Its just that its not something that works with Chesh. Its not a dig.

I HAVE been on that end of things. In fact, it HASN'T been me doing the ditching over politics. Odds are, if I date a Republican, they're not gonna stick with me long. I think that says a lot more abt. the guy than me.
kimmer23
11-08-2004, 02:47 PM
well i am not a republican, but i think its still a little insulting. you might miss out on an awesome guy because of his political party. i mean who talks about politics all the time anyway?? not a fun first date topic really....
WeirdBrake

No, I was serious about Ann Coulter being hot. WS... you're hetero. How would you know if she's hot or not? I personally don't find Jack Ryan hot, but I'm a hetero guy. :p

WB!
I WHOLEHEARTEDLY disagree that straight women can't find women hot.
And Jack Ryan is unbelievably hot.
What I'm telling you, kimmer, is that I'm an equal opportunity dater...I'm the one who's gotten shot down due to "political " differences, not the reverse.

WS,
stop going to those republican rallys to meet guys! haha!! j/k!

It's been pointed out to me that I should clarify that by my earlier post, I'm not implying that Republicans lack the innate ability to commit.
When I say that "Odds are, if I date a Republican, they're not gonna stick with me long," it's because the one's I've dated haven't been keen on seeing someone who disagreed with their sociopolitical viewpoints. Not because I think Republicans as a whole lack a "stick-to-it-iveness."
wordsmith
11-08-2004, 02:57 PM
Hah! I steer clear of ALL rallies, kimmer! In this case, it's just the dating pool.

I didn't say I wasn't going to continue dating him. I was just kind of laughing about it, because I am quite obviously a staunch democrat. It was just supposed to be a tongue-in-cheek lament. I also thought it would be amusing to anyone who's read any of my political posts that I'm always dating republicans. I didn't mean it to be insulting to anyone.

Chesh, are you an insanely wealthy, war hungry white man? I'm asking because they always seem to attract alot of republicans.

Pisces, gay and republican do mix. They just really dissaprove of themselves. "America would be so much better without...me :(. But republicans will save the country:) Unless they are gay...like me:(. " Maybe they cancel themselves out and become neutral.

Actually, as it turns out he's a democrat who voted for Bush. I don't know if that's better or worse ;).
That'll teach me to hear "I'm very happy about the election and think Bush will help the country" and assume Republican

Hey Carol, you can always send a few of those republican guys my way!!! I seem to keep finding the Democrats in the dating pool and I sure could use a republican thrown in the mix here at some point! It'd be so nice to carry on a conversation without arguing about politics!!
