If so, I'm a NYC based editor who has been wanting to relocate to SF since I left college a few years ago. What held me back before was not having enough money, lack of friends or family out there, not mature enough, and well, not enough money. However, I am now desperate and ready to move out there, very soon. Now my concern is, there doesn't seem to be a great market for book editors there. Can anyone advise? Thx.

I can not help you with book editing but I was born and raised in New Jersey went to college in Ohio and am now living in the San Fran Bay ARea. So I can tell you all about the bay area. There are a lot of cool people out here and I have been having a lot of fun.
But It is ridiculosly expensive. Food is double what it costs in New Jersey and a 1 bedroom in the bay area will run you about $1,000 a month. Due to the recent and impending dot-com crash there is basicly no job market out here. So on one hand you will have plenty of fun but it will be almost impossible to make a life here. If you have any questions my name is Matt and my e-mail is zippy18@hotmail.com

Unfortunately I am not in the SF area and do not have any connections for book editors out there but I felt compelled to respond to this board, being as I am a former NJ girl!

Can I ask why no one on these boards registers so that we might know, perhaps, which part of NJ (or on a much bigger scale, which state) you are from? I am registered at Classmates.com because I am always interested in what my fellow high school graduates are up to (although I didn't really have many friends from that high school) but since no one registers on these boards it makes it impossible to know if I am responding to someone I already know! /phpBB/images/smiles/icon_smile.gif

ANdrea I posted the Anoymous message on this thread.
I guess I did it cause I was too lazy to register but after reading your response I register and will use my name from now on.
I went to Madison Central High School in Old Bridge New Jersey and graduated in 1993 and am now living in California, how about yourself?

Although I sometimes don't like to admit it, I'm from Nutley NJ. Small town in northern NJ. Grew up and lived there up until college and then I got the hell out and haven't regretted a moment of it. My first year of college was Manhattanville College in Purchase NY but then I realized that if I wanted to seriously pursue a career I needed to be IN Manhattan so I transferred to Marymount Manhattan College and have been in the city ever since, except for two situations where I lived in London, England! /phpBB/images/smiles/icon_smile.gif
