YAY! So last night I found out I have been accepted into the Paralegal Program at Nova Southeastern Univ.. I am really excited!
However, now I have to resign from my job. Granted, I don't mind leaving, but I know people are going tobe pissed and resentful (thats just the way they are around here). What do you think I should say in my resignation letter???

Congratulations!
Most importantly, try not to let the resignation spoil your excitement. I've had to do this before, though not really for resentful people, and it is hard ... but you have a really good reason to resign. Resignation letters can be really short and sweet, just officially announcing your last day of work, thanking the company for the opportunity to work there, and letting them that you are pursuing a new, exciting opportunity. And that's all you have to say to the people you work with too. If they can't feel any happiness for you, just resentment that they have to fill the job ... then you'll be happier away from them anyway. How long are you going to be working there after you let them know you'll be leaving?

It's not getting in the way of my excitement at all. I actually was reminded this morning of why leaving is a good idea (petty people, overworked, not enough pay, vague job discriptions, etc).
I have only been here since June 1 (6mos.) so I feel bad about it, but I know its best for me.
I will be letting them know after Thanksgiving break as I will be starting school on Jan 5 and with Xmas in between, it makes the time even shorter.
Of course, I have to look into their policy in regards to using vacation and sick time up before resigning. I have about a week to use and could use an extra couple of days to get drs appts and what not done beforeI go off my insurance and onto cobra.

i would go out a la scarface from half baked.
fuck you, fuck you, fuck YOU,
fuck you, you're cool, fuck you
Im out.
haha
No seriously.
This is really tough because I have had to draft one myself.
Basically thank them for the opportunity they afforded you and that right now in your life you're at a crucial juncture where you need to focus on advancing your education etc etc.
the key is don't burn any bridges..obviously this goes w/o saying but some people take offense when you quit a job and i have seen a buddy of mine get blacklisted in the real estate industry in d.c. because his former boss thought he was being rude in his resignation letter... i am sure you will be fine though...
good luck
