I need to assemble an 80's soundtrack as part of a goodie bag for a workshop I am organizing.

What are some great 80's songs?

OMG, best topic EVER!

Is there a theme? Like Hair Bands, or 80's bands that actually had talent? Or is it just a general 80's band CD?

for now I need to come up with a list of songs - about 100 - and then my committee is going to help me figure out a theme and an order, etc. So, for now, anything is valid.

Ok - I'm gonna go with some of my ligitimate favorites songs, as opposed to the chezzy, but memorable one hit wonders. (OHW) Note- some may still be OHW's but none-the-less, good stuff. Before I start I just need to taper my jeans BRB.

(5 minutes later)

Ok, I'm back let's see-

Take on me - Aha
Heaven - Warrent
Dreams - Van Halen
Burning Down the House - Talking Heads
Died in Your Arms Tonight - Cutting Crew
Africa - Toto
Eyes Without a Face - Billy Idol

This maybe an early 90's song, but I love it:
Silent Lucidity - Queensryche (sp?)

There are a few, but I could go on all day.

-Hungry Like the Wolf
-Hit Me With Your Best Shot
-Where The Streets Have No Name
-Jack & Diane
-I Wanna Know What Love Is
-Heart of Glass
-Don't Stop Believin'

Sultans of Swing
Romeo and Juliet

Great band whose memory was partially ruined by a chezzy video. The song I will not name.

"Stroke It," Clarence Carter--the greatest masturbation anthem of all time--"I stroke it to the east, I stroke it to the west, I stroke it to the woman that I love the best!"

I think it's an '80s song.

Oh, I always LOVED The B-52s' "Love Shack."

What about that other Cure song... you know, the one whose title sounds sort of creepy and racist if you don't know it's a reference to the Camus novel The Stranger?

the one that goes "spider man is having me for dinner tonight?"

edit: that's an amazing song, btw... but less known, so i don't know how it would fly on a compilation.

edit (again): oops, i think you meant "killing an arab"
