just wondering who out there has tattoos and/or piercings other than ears.
i have my nose pierced & a tattoo on my lower back of an eternity knot(one of the 8 auspicious symbols in the tibetan buddhist religion).
i am kinda itching for something new. i was thinking i'd might another tattoo when my debt is paid off (minus car payments). i really like nipple piercings. the last guy i dated had one of his nipple pierced ( & his tongue) it was a huge turn-on for me. my one problem is that have large breasts & gravity is not so kind as it is to smaller-breasted women.
i'm sure a lot of you aren't into nipple piercings. i'd really like to hear from people who are & if they have seen a woman with a large chest (not implants) & nipples pierced.

On my 18th B-Day, my present to myself was getting my bellybutton pierced. In college a few years later, I also got my tongue pierced. I eventually took both out though, but I liked them at the time because I had gotten them before they seemed to be "popular". Anyways, I knew a girl in school who had her nipple pierced. It looked cool. I mean, if you really want it, I say go for it. If you decide you don't like it after a while, you can just take it out. I went through a phase where I wanted one as well, but the thought of the pain scared me out of it.

it is funny that you brought this up because i got ready at the gym for the first time today and i was shocked at how many of the women had tatoos. (tried not to stare too much, lol!) anyway, i found myself thinking how ugly they all were. so then i was glad that i never got tatooed.
i'm for reversable self-mutilation. i had my tongue pierced in college.

Hah, the last time this came up, accusations of white trash Wal-Mart shoppers were tossed around...it got ugly. Can we PLEEEEEEZE go back there???? Pretty Please????
Yeah, Lyra. I have a tattoo. My particular ugly self mutilation is a small celtic knot in a shamrock as a nod to my Irish heritage. I am thrilled with it and think it's pretty, and have received lots of compliments on it.

I have a friend with I'd say C cup breasts who has both nipples pierced but I've never seen her naked so I couldn't furnish a good opinion of how they look on her. In fact I wouldn't have known if it hadn't come up in conversation.
I have my tongue done which I like a lot -- most people don't even know I have it unless I show them. Also I heard that tongue piercing didn't really hurt so that's why I made that choice. I don't think I could get my nipples done because I've heard it really hurts (at least for guys). I don't have any tattoos and I don't really intend to get any as I know they fade with age.
A few piercings on girls or a few tattoos is definitely sexy but don't go overboard. Too many tattoos make girls look a bit skanky and I don't need a girl with a pincushion for a face.

if i realized that the lower back would become the hot spot for women, i would have gotten in somewhere else (i don't think anyone would label me as a tramp or skank).i really wanted it on my inner wrist but, supposedly, it's a difficult place to tattoo bc of the proximity to veins. :)
i think one of the reasons i like tattoos & piercings is that i look young (see other thread) & really sweet, so it's my was of trying to be a badass- keyword is try. also, anything beyond single piercings in the ear & def tattoos was a no-no in my house. because my parents were pretty easy-going, it was the only way to rebel.

Exactly why I got it where I did...in between the shoulder blades is probably the lease droopage-and-cellulite-prone area a woman possesses.
Actually, if they fade, they can be recolored. The place I got mine will touch the color up free of charge. It's not in their artists' best interest to have their work going around looking shitty and faded.

I get that every girl seems to have the lower back tattoo now, but, seriously, where else can you put it where it won't get misshapen as you age?? And, as a second consideration, where you won't have to limit your wedding dress selection because you don't want to have your tattoo visible?? That was really my reasoning for getting it there...
My Dad calls it my "outward sign of immaturity." My mother? She wanted to come with and get one too.

i have 2 in the cartlidge of my ear (plus a bunch still left from when i used to pierce my own ears in high school)
but after my honeymoon i got my nose pierced. i love it! i have a little diamond in white gold. i am looking to get a larger diamond though. i think a larger one would stand out better. i decided to get it because i am my own boss and there isnt anyone telling me how to dress for work.
my sister in law and girlfriend just both got their nipples pierced. my sister in law got both done and her girlfriend only got one done. my sister in law also has her tongue pierced. but i know 2 other friends with nipple piercings as well. i think they like them because they are private.
i think a double nose piercing (2 studs on the same side) look kinda neat.

I don't care if my tattoo shows in a wedding dress. It's seriously a beautiful design, and any wedding I would have would take into account my celtic heritage as well, so it would be in keeping with the theme.
Met - my mom and sister DID come with me to get mine. It was girls' day out. My sister got hers retouched, and my mom took pics of us in the chairs. She wouldn't get one, though.
Lyra - I also got one in large part BECAUSE I don't "look the type." And also because I really like the design and it's meaningful to me.

I love mine, but the wedding day thing is really for my parents more than myself. And, since I knew my Dad would hate it and I expect him to pay... ;)
Word -- I went with a friend. It was something that we spend 4 years planning and trying to figure out what we wanted. So, we got them together.
How often do they need to be touched up? Mine still looks really good, but it has definitely faded a little...

I got my tat long before I got married, but I chose my lower back because it really is the easiest place to put a tattoo and be able to hide it with clothing. Very few people I work with know I have one. And I'm dying to get another, but I don't want a tat anywhere else. So I think I might just get the sunburst I have embellished and added to.

lyra,
yeah what is that spot called?? i am trying to find it online!
but my sister in law has HUGE boobs and got them done. i have never seen her boobs without her shirt or anything, but they are big. another friend that got the nipple piercing has big boobs as well. and the other one has avg. size boobs.
wordsmith
11-18-2004, 01:52 PM
You can get them retouched whenever, Met. My sister had hers a year, and brightened up the color...it just depends on how your skin took the dye. Mine could probably use some brightening in the greens....green is a shade of ink that fades a bit. I might do that next summer. If it's ever exposed to the UV rays and not sunscreened, that can be a big fade factor, again depending on your skin.
I took several years choosing a design, too.
Lyra - the only person I know with nipple piercings is rather small-breasted. Sorry I'm no help!

not sure what that part is called.
i'm trying to find some photos of women with large breasts & nipple piercings online. hmm, just hit me. my breasts are always gonna be large & somewhat saggy. they are gonna look the same no matter whether there is a piercing or not. so i might as well do it if i want it. still would like to have a c-cup. ah, i remember those days. i didn't realize how great i had it.

Yeah, mine's low enough that it's hidden in everything that's work appropriate. I have some camisoles where it shows, but I don't wear them to work without something over them. I like that in order to see mine, I have to show you.
I'd like another, too, but I've run into the same issue...I took the only spot i'd really put one! And I don't necessarily wanna embellish it, because it's exactly the size I want it.

I wouldn't get one, only b/c I don't like pain and don't like the idea of something that's pretty much permanent...but if you want them, get them. :)

Yeah, Jen...I wouldn't have gotten it if it wasn't a design I love...I have no issues with it showing in a barer backed dress of any kind. It's not like it's a flaming skull or something that would look out of place. It's pretty and artistic.
Also, I was surprised by the fact that it didn't really hurt. I was expecting to really be in quite a bit of pain, so it was a pleasant surprised. I've had sunburns that hurt FAR worse. I even called my social editor at work (I took a vacation day to get it done), and chatted with her while I was getting it done, it was so relatively painless. And I'm a big wussie!

They just seem too painful to me to even really consider. I think the six piercings I have up my cartilage on my right ear are mostly closed these days (I only wear earrings in the bottom holes, of recent years). Okay I had my boobs pierced. I am about a size C. I had them for a year and took them out because they never healed. Then a year later, I redid them...a year after that, still no healing, so I rid of them again. My best friend at the time and my roomie also did their boobs, also had healing problems. So that's my only advice. I miss them tho, but things got a bit less sensitive.
Back in the day, I had my tongue, eyebrow, boobs, belly button, upper ear (barbell --so 2 in one ear) and one in the other upper ear. Most healed fine. Had my tongue ring for 3 years. Then I got office jobs and took it all out. I'm thinking of redoing my tongue and upperear barbell, I kept the upper ear stud.
Get this, tatts freak me out. Simply because you can't take them out easily! LOL So no tatts for me.

Oh and boobs do hurt DURING the 1 minute or so pierce process per boob...then...if you have a nice snug bra, they don't really hurt until shower time where you have to move them and clean them. So it really hurt less than ear cartiledge, IMO.

OK, I have not read through all million posts yet, so here I go. I have two tattoos. One on my calf, and one on my shoulder , I have my belly button pierced, and I have had my tongue pierced.
I want to redo my tongue, but I'm too chicken shit to do it again because I know what it felt like the first time. I definately want another tattoo. I love them.
My sister's friend has her nipples pierced and I have seen them. I wouldn't personaly do it, butthey look nice on her. She can pull it off.
I find it HOT! HOT! if a guy can pull off nipple rings. And for some reason I have a thing for sleeves and tattoos on guys calfs ( as long as they have nice calf muscles)

yeah. Mine are in places that can be hidden by a shirt, pants, or a long skirt.

tartytwenty- thanks for the info. i have heard healing is a bitch so i am a bit worried about that. & no touching them til they heal-6mos - 1yr. that is a long time w/o anyone fondling them. because of that, i was thinking maybe i'd do one so that both my boobs weren't off limits. i like both, though. i guess i can always do them & take em out if they aren't healing.

I've wanted my tongue pierced since I was 13. My parents swore it was "just a phase." They also forbade me to get a piercing or tattoo until I was COMPLETELY financially independent. While they still have to help me out financially far more than I would prefer at this point in life, last year I realized how damned smart/clever my dad was with that one. Being a spoiled child (not brat), I got a new car for my 16th birthday. The car itself is paid for by now, but since it was a gift, they still pay the insurance and registration. The car is in good shape and I plan to drive it for quite a while to come, so I shall remain tattoo-free and piercing-free.
I came very close to getting my nipples pierced a few years ago, b/c it was the one piercing I wanted that I could easily hide from my parents. I'd heard bad things about how long it took for nipple piercings to heal, and somehow that came up in a conversation with my mom one day. I don't remember getting my ears pierced, since they were done when I was 2, but my mom said they took at least 6 months to heal after getting infected several times. That put the nipple-piercing idea down really quickly.
As for tattoos, until I find a design that speaks to me personally and is something I know I will never change my mind about, I'll never get one.

Well between my roommate, her sister, my best friend and my roomie, in a year, healing wasn't done. It's a long long healing process, not a two weeker. But I did love the rings...but the healing was a BIG deal. So if you do it, you should wait 2 years. I didn't cause i had a new bf. PM me if you want details.

Well, I know from experiance that my arm can be motivated to stretch to about ten feet - and that's just to hit the snooze button. So a few states for boobs? Ya, I wouldn't put it past him.
At any rate, I'm already commited to getting a tattoo in December. Maybe when I'm in mexico. Looking forward to it. As for the peircing in queston, my understanding is that if you want more sensitivity, it's for you. That means it would be even better suited to you more *ahem* endowed ladies.

I'm not sure bigger breasts means more sensitivity.

ditto on the bigger breasts does not equal greater sensitivity. gaining extra sensitivity through a piercing could be very nice.
someone suggested a great piercing place for me. the websit has great info on piercings. if anyone is interested in learning more about specific piercings, healing times and aftercare instructions, check it out.

i wanted a tattoo for a long time & finally found what i wanted. the tattoo is symbolic of a specific time in my life plus the meaning is particularly important to me. i think it is important to find something that you won't regret in 10 years. that's why you won't find a cartoon character or a lover's name adorning my body.

God that thought scares me. I really suggest NOT doing that. For something as permanent as a tattoo, its a good idea to do a lot of research on the particular places and artists. Don't just go by what you see on display in the shop. Ask around to people you know and see who did theirs and if they were happy with it. Try to find examples of their work that people have had for a while so you can see how they "hold up."

I would be VERY leery of getting one done in another country where you have absolutely no guarantees of any kind of safety standards, or far fewer than you do here, at any rate. Also on the spur of the moment at a place you can't check out beforehand easily. I know more than a few soldiers and sailors who have gotten fun diseases this way. To say nothing of having no real assurance of the aesthetic quality if you haven't seen the artist's work on somebody. I went to the same guy who had done a great job on my sister, and watched him autoclave equipment and open new packages.

glad you guys enjoyed the joke. i am sarcastic & sometimes have to explain my humor, because it tends to go over some peoples' heads.
about tattoos in foreign countries - a friend of mine got one in south africa. while that sounds pretty risky, there is no way she would have gotten it if it were a sketchy place. she is not a risk-taker & really thinks things through. her tattoo turned out beautiful, too.
i got a tattoo at a place that i just looked up in the phonebook. it looked clean. i didn't see any of the guys work, but it turned out really well.
