I’m in a bit of a conundrum; I have recently moved up to D.C. and am having a bit of a problem meeting people, let alone meeting people in my age range. I’m not talking about meeting guys more of meeting girls my own age…

Here’s the problem::: I’m at work for 8-10hrs per day, when I get off I want to go out, have a beer, talk/vent, hangout! At work I am by far (10years) the youngest person. Now this is not a problem because I interact with them well in a work setting, the problem comes in because I want to go out and meet new people or just hangout, but nobody I work with is trying to go out. They all want to go home to their families, which is understandable but it puts me out by myself or normally with my roommate.

I am finding it hard to meet people (girls) anywhere else but in bars, which is not the best place to find stimulating, meaningful conversation. What I’m looking for is girls that want to go out, hangout, have a drink, talk, maybe more ;) …that are around my age range (20-25).

Do you all have any suggestions on good places to meet people (excluding bars)??

there are a million posts on here about this.
coffee shops...try your nearest Starbucks
bookstores
grocery stores
library
movie store

you can pretty much meet anyone anywhere. you just need to strike up a conversation. start out with the weather or noticing her coat or watch or cell phone, whatever. just something to say hey thats cool and catch her attention

How do you meet someone at any of those places? I try to get in and out of them as fast as humanly possible. haha.

that would be because you are a guy. most guys have this thing about staying in one store for too long. Thats ya'lls problem. most girls shop. Lurk a few minutes. Go strike up a conversation. I'll say again like I said on another thread once. Even if you get rejected I can pretty much garauntee you made her day. The first thing she is gonna do is call a friend and say hey! some guy just hit on me! and she'll more than likely say it with a smile on her face

That's some kind of consolation prize I guess. :p

well not to great for you, but its not like you knew her anyway so its not gonna rip your heart out if she is already involved with someone or whatever. Its nice to know you made someone smile though.
