Harmless Fun? Or just mean?

So tonight is the first night of chanukah (I am Jewish). I am driving into work and had on the local college radio station and this Public Address Announcement comes on.

These kids are joking around with their friends (it was clear they were meant to be friends) and start to bust the balls of one of their Jewish friends for being cheap. And the annoucement basically said "don't do this or you're evil." The add made it seem like, Jews don't like to be made fun of.


This pissed me off. I bust balls with my friends all the time (Polish, Italian, Irish, whatever) and invitibly me being Jewish comes up and then it goes down hill from there. Here's the thing, I don't care. They don't mean it.

They are my friends, they aren't evil and who is this PC crap radio station to tell me and my friends how we can joke around with eachother.

Does anyone else feel like this type of PCness is rediculous?

It's harmless fun, and my friends do it too. However, let's say, some people start doing that to a complete stranger, then it's mean and not fun. But if you're with good friends, things like that tend to come up in good humor! Of coarse, the crowd I'm with are all open minded.

Ah it's nothing. They were just busting balls. My friends and I bust each other's balls mercilessly, wrecklessly...and often. haha. Everybody knows the other doesn't mean anything by it. It's just a joke. The more tasteless, offensive, and obscene, the better. :D

Very true. You have NO idea how offensive these jokes are. I feel like I need to say a prayer after laughing at them. :D

yup, my hubby is jewish and our friends always bust jokes all the time. Being in a crowd of friends and cracking jokes is one thing, doing this with people you don't know is another. Unfortunatley, my hubby can be the stereotypical cheapo - (he didn't know how to tip properly until he met me!) so our friends can't help but stick it too him sometimes, but it is really always in good humor.

my dad is German, and my old roommate of 2 years is Jewish. I would get kicked off this thread if I repeated a small fraction of the jokes that went on in our house.
