I'm always bitching about how sweet stuff never happens to me. But I just got flowers at work! From a dude I went to interview for a li'l human interest feature story yesterday.
He asked me if I was married yesterday, but I'm oblivious to that and figured it was because he was trying to place my last name and who I'm related to (typical small-town stuff) and didn't think anything of it. Hi, totally miss being flirted with when I'm working. So when the flowers came in (red white, and pink daisies in a Valentine vase), I blushed bright red.
He's too old for me, though not parents' age old (he's the uncle of one of my high school classmates), and I'm not looking to date right now, anyway, but it was still kinda sweet and cute, if weird.

Oh! That's so nice even if you don't want to date him.

Yeah, I find this stuff like that is nice & sweet, but creepy if they are older than about 10-15 years older than me.

That's so sweet, words. It so rare that guys just do stuff like that. :)

Yeah, it definitely falls under the "slightly weird, but flattering nonetheless" column.
And, yeah, basically all the men in the vicinity are gonna be a minimum of ten years older than I am. Pretty much nobody my age lives here, and those that do aren't gonna be sending you flowers, because that would mean they'd have to leave the NASCAR marathon at the bar to do so! So most everyone I interact with is slightly older.

Me, too.
Then I feel bad cause all the older ladies I know complain that there are no guys their age available!!! Well, of course not, they are hitting on people my age!!

Just to clarify, he's not OLD older. He's probably in his late thirties.

Late thirties is too old?

Well, even if you're not interested in him in that way, that's sweet... late 30's is too old? If you said older than say 38, i'd agree, but anything under that is fair game (that'd be about 12 years older than me) ;)

Not always. I dated a guy in his upper thirties. This guy is, however, too old. It's more of a where he is in life than versus where I am than a numbers thing in this case. I'm in transition...he's settled. Like everyone around here. I don't need to be starting things with settled people. I'm not staying here.

When it comes to age, looks can be deceiving. Was he cute...that's what I need to know, lol!

That's sweet! My roommate got a dozen roses last night from someone she's kinda dating - that was pretty nice of the guy too. However, if one more person I know gets flowers (who isn't me, hehe) I'm going to start getting bitter!

Eh, I suppose he's not bad looking, but not my type.

Ha ha, cute! I've had random guys call me up to ask me out after they've seen me out somewhere doing something newspaper-related, but it hasn't happened in a while, and I've never gotten flowers. Prob. because all the dudes here are watching the Nascar marathon, too. ;)

I get flowers every time I send some at the florist's across the street, and they tell me there there is "no way" I should not have a date on Valentine's Day....
does this count???????
