I will be getting my cable internet installed on Friday (crosses fingers since it was delayed from being installed on Saturday because I couldn't access the cable box in my apartments basement...quick rant). I am soooo looking forward to having high speed internet again since I have not had it in close to 1.5 years!

So I am beginning to make a mental checklist of some of things I can't wait to do with this new speed. The list so far includes downloading some tunes from some artists websites, watching the Batman trailer about 20 times, downloading a few songs from itunes.com (just won 2 free downloads under my Mountain Dew bottle caps today) and upgrading some software (fun, huh?).

I would like to hear your suggestions of what else I should do with this new speed. Sites to visit? Things to download? Things to do or look at?

And are there any good and free sites for downloads these days? I used to be a regular downloader on Kazaa back when I had high speed, but I have heard from some people that it is packed full of junk and viruses now. I used to like it because I could download pretty much anything there. Any recommendations?

I wouldn't even think about Kazaa anymore..... there are so many viruses on that it isn't even funny.
Plus god only knows who is watching those peer-to-peer programs for copyright infringement.

Any sites you would recommend Morgan? Obviously there is the paid sites like itunes.com but I am sure there are still some good sites for movie clips, trailers, pics, music, etc.

LaunchCast on Yahoo...it has different channels and you can view music videos as well.

Is that site just for live broadcasts or for downloading? I will definitely be listening to some internet radio but want to burn some CDs as well.

I don't believe it is for downloading. I think it is all streaming stuff.

I think its really hard to download free music online today w/o getting a buttload of spyware and crap on your computer, unless you get it from the artist's website. Yeah, please don't download Kazaa. *shudders*

Kazaa's sucked for just about forever now. WinMx is still pretty good. Beware of the authorization requirements for iTunes. Its similar to Realplayer's "protected" songs that dont let u do very much with it.

What are the benefits of WinMx? Download music and other things too?
