i just noticed this.

Most users ever online was 540, 01-27-2005 at 06:37 PM.

is this true or is it a typo? 540?? that sure is a shitload of people. where was i?

I doubt it, the system keeps track of logons and the date and time.

I'm pretty sure that is generated by the computer.
Guess it's true, maybe the spike was generated by the site being mentioned in print somewhere?

Maybe it coincides with the fact that Jan 25 is supposed to be the most depressing day of the year.

Robert Burns - Scottish poet, of "My Love's Like a Red, Red Rose" fame. His birthday was Jan. 25.

BUT, more importantly, MY birthday is January 25, so it is surely not the most depressing day of the year! Although there does tend to be bad karma associated with it for me, and my dad was in a near fatal accident on it this year. :(
