View Full Version : MIT (Moderator-In-Training)
Unfortunately, WB will not have as much time to devote to his Mod duties this Spring. Luckily, however, we have found a replacement. Based on the original moderator's recommendation, I have appointed and1grad as our newest moderator. He will be training with WB over the next few weeks. Lets all give our newest mod-in-training a big welcome! And remember, be nice - he's got the power now ;)
I welcome your recommendations for future mods and as always, appreciate your feedback (as long as it doesn't mean me having to do a lot of work or spend a lot of money :)).

Welcome to our world, and1grad. :huge:
I'll still be the moderator until about late May of this year, and then I'm going to have to get serious about studying for the bar exam. Which, of course, means that I'll be saying my goodbyes to the QLC board in general (or at least for a while). At that point, I will retire as a mod, and and1grad will officially replace me.
As Abby said, and1grad is now a moderator-- with all the powers and rights and privileges thereunto appertaining-- and I'll be "showing him the ropes." So the QLC Moderating Team now consists of Jen, and1grad, and myself. Lead, of course, by our always-faithful Commander-in-Chief, Abby.
OK, I'll stop now before I go overboard. ;):

Let's say hypothetically I believe I'm really really really right about something...and I say something like, "That's ridiculous....any retarded monkey who forgot to wear his helmet and hit his head really hard before succumbing to a brain infection that makes him brain dead and ignorant beyond fathomability knows more than you....."
What would happen then, and1?
Just wondering.....not planning on doing that or anything....really. I'm not. But what would happen?

CK is the QLC board equivalent of that kid you knew in elementary school who was always getting sent to the principal's office.

Actually Brake...I did do that to my Geography teacher in 8th grade. It's a funny story because she spent a semester telling us about the ozone layer over Antarctica and everything was Antarctica this, Antarctica that. So I fired out the C word at her (Communist) and she hit the wall. Ironically two years later I saw her in the crowd at the Arkansas Governor's mansion on election night when Bill Clinton was elected in 1992. But yeah....got detention for that one.

I was proud of that one though. She WAS a communist. I pretty much wanted to wear my Ronald Reagan button to class every day.

I don't get the link between Antarctica, the ozone layer, and communism.

I was taking heavy doses of Rush Limbaugh at the time. 10 weeks of Antarctica makes you realize you're dealing with a rabid, ultra-liberal, environut. Who closely on the heels of the fall of communism were synonymous with communists. Today, I would have called her Howard Dean.

I am environmentally friendly, and liberal. But I'm also a capitalist. I want to run my own company someday in our pseudo-free-market economy here in the US.
Global warming is obviously bad, but it has nothing to do government mandated jobs or working on a commune. I don't think Howard Dean would support communism either. Maybe I missed the link between political beliefs and economic systems in my multiple classes.

You have to remember the times. 1992. Communism still in memory. So was Reagan who was conservative AND anti-communist. At the time, everything liberal was perceived synonmymous with communist in the political lingo. They may as well have been one in the same, especially in a nation with 49 red states.
I'm not trying to say liberals are communists. I'm just telling you what was said.

You have to remember the times. 1992.
In 1992, my big concerns were watching Ren and Stimpy, and performing in my class' musical play commemorating Christopher Columbus' unfortunate stopover in the Western world. I was 10, and the only communal thing I knew about were the showers on our camping trips.
Thank you for your clarification, though, CK.

I think I'll be too busy learning things like strict liability, duty breaches, affirmative duties, proximate causation and intervening causes, comparative negligence rules, hearsay and exceptions, confidentiality and party admission exceptions, rule against perpetuities, limited ownership, and transfer of ownership, inheritance by will and intestate succession, warranty, contract for the sale of goods, probable cause standards, elements of murder, rape, assault, robbery, and theft, and excuse and justification defenses, government limitations on free speech and equal protection infringements, state and federal jurisdiction, personal and in rem jurisdiction, minimum contacts rule, Erie Doctrine, certification of a class action, impleader and joinder of claims, issue preclusion, and conditional acceptances, among other things, for both the multi-state portion and the MD written portion.
And all I know so far is that judges wear black robes.
