Some history first...
was at one job for 4 years, really enjoyed it..jst didnt like the company. quit, bummed around europe, came home, moved cities, now i work at another job same field though. I enjoy it-- I guess.

I was supposed to work here full time but I only get 25-30 hrs a week. My pay sucks- under $10/hr...although i like the people, the location is convenient, it's low stress and the management is great, I dont get paid enough. Will this job take me where I want to go? It could help.

I sell gym memberships. I've done reception and at the other place that I was at for years, I got paid real well. Here? The commissions arent that great. When I can afford to, I would like to get re-certified to take up personal training. All the while I'm here, I make up for lost hours at a restaurant.

Whats my problem then? I could be making more at another club. How long do I stick it out, before I give them the written notice?

(After I came back from europe, I quit 2 jobs in 2 months. Its hard for me to find somewhere I can bare going to dat-to-day)

if you are concerned about how it would look on a resume, I'd say that staying in one place for at least a year is best.

But as far as how long before giving them notice, why don't you try to find another job first so you aren't totally broke after you quit?

Find out if you can get student loans to take your personal trainer certification classes.

Just a bit of warning about quitting a job to pursue PT Certification:

A few weeks back, this Hulk looking dude came up to my personal trainer while we were working out together. He kept asking her questions and tol her he had given notice at his work & he was pursuing PT Certification full time. After he walked away, she looked at me and said "I would NEVER give up a job to pursue taking the certification!!! As a level one trainer you do not make any money, cause you haven't started building your client base. Anybody who does that is crazy! I wouldn't quit my full time job till I was at least a level 2!"

Just wanted to pass that info along. My trainer is a level 4(from what i'm told that is one of the highest levels you can get)..
