I called in sick to work this afternoon even though I am completely healthy. I am trying to justify it by the fact that I never call in sick, and that today I was scheduled to work a 3.5 hour shift. Yes really 3.5 hours. It isn't right I know...Do you guys ever call in sick when your not?

I've called in exhausted, and said I was sick. But I've never called in to go do something else. I'm not a good liar, so no Ferris Bueller's Day Off for me.
I also have so few sick days that it would irk me to use them up not really sick.

Feeling guilty for not working hard enough? Get over it. Life's too short for that. Feel guilty if you do things that are really cruel to others; DON'T feel guilty about calling in sick. It's soooo not worth it.

uh, yeah. don't feel bad. what is the point of a 3.5 hr shift anyways?
last week, i got notification that i have more than 3 occurences in a 3 month period, 5.5 occurences to be specific. most are 1/2 points for being late, but 3 are for calling in.
i have to say that 1 was for being sick from paxil withdrawal, but later that day when i was feeling better, i drove up to canada. i called off the next day too (still fighting the bug). i also called off a few months ago & said that a friend's car was snowed in behind mine. that was a lie. so i kinda blame deadend for some of my call-offs.

Oh, I wouldn't feel guilty. I'd just figure I was screwing myself somewhere further down the road.

Haha, I take mental health days all of the time. I hate my job, and it makes me sick to go here. So I takeoff time. I don't give a shit...except it's March and I don't get any more sick time until JULY!

I would feel guilty, too, but that's just the way I am. I can never bring myself to take a sick day, and they don't carry over from year to year, so I end up wasting them. I should just take a Ferris Bueller for the hell of it.

I feel ya Pisces...I hate my job so much too! It is a crappy retail mall job and I have a better one that I start in about 3 weeks. I don't get any sick time or holidays or anything like that with my current job. I have never called in sick before in the year and a half that I have worked there. I am kinda pissed that they scheduled me for a 3.5 hour shift. Cornflakegirl, I don't know what the point of it is, I think those short shifts just cover for people who arrive late or don't show up etc. I have to drive about 40 minuets just to get there so it didn't seem worth it for me today. I have a ton of school work I can do and WILL do even if I am procrastinating now.
