Is there one that has started? I find it hard to meet new people, but I'd like to maybe give it a try.

It just doesnt' seem to be going anywhere...probably b/c we're all in the same boat...bummed out, nervous to meet new people, low on cash, etc.....

As much as I find it hard to meet new people that I don't know, I'd like to give it a try.

I am the moderator for the QLC New England group. So far we have 10 members, but everyone is rather spread out and people have such busy schedules. I have made some suggestions on where to meet but people just don't seem to be available. We'll keep trying and if anyone is interested, please email me and I will send you an invitation to join the group. We post and discuss and someday we will meet. Email me.

Hi... I'd love to get involved with a NE/Boston-area group. I think it'd be an enormously helpful means of getting support. Does anyone have updated info? Thanks...

I'm really surprised that there aren't more people in the Boston area who would want to be involved. I just moved up here and before I got settled into the routine of grad school, I thought I was going to go nuts!!! It would have been cool to try and meet up with fellow QLCers. It still would be cool, lol.

Hi! I've been a member since July and I keep checking this thread to see if anyone ever had any CONCRETE ideas. When I moved up here, I posted that message to see if anyone really was interested. I still don't have many friends in the area, people just don't seem like they need friends. I do the school and home routine--very DULL!!! I live in Dorchester, where are you located?

I am from the 128 area such Stoneham, Burlington, Woburn, Waltham. Is anyone else around this area that wants to get together? One idea I have is to meet at Starbucks and chit chat. Any other ideas?

If you look at some of the old messages on this thread, there were some people who were interested, but I don't know what happened to them! It's really bizarre because metro-Boston has so many young people, but no one wants to get together. Look at all the other support group locations--why not us too? I don't know what to say...maybe we should wait and see if anyone else finds us on here? :)

I am new to this site. I would like to help set up a support group in the Boston area...even if there are only a few people that's better than nothing. I agree, there are alot of twentysomethings in our area, but they all seem very hesitant and closed up about randomly meeting new people. But what can you do.
There are many coffeehouses in the cambridge/somerville area that are on the T that would be good places to meet.

I am willing to meet new people and set up a Boston group.
I am near the Cambridge area. We should start a group and find out when is a good time to meet and location.

The Boston support group has never gotten together. There is a Yahoo group with an email list, but I haven't gotten any in a long time. I'm moving out of Boston and back to CT, but it's too bad there were never any get-togethers.

If anyone is still interested in joining a Boston support group, I am definitely willing to organize it. I live in Somerville, and think that Davis Square has some great places to meet. E-mail me if you are still interested - I look forward to meeting you all!

I definitely think a Boston group would be a great idea- I'm always looking to meet new people. If someone is organizing something, put me on your e-mail list or just drop me a line at the e-mail below. I think we should pick a place /date/time and have people meet up for drinks after work some day. Tuesdays and Wednesdays work well for me. What part of town are most people in? I work in Back Bay, but as long as somewhere is easily accessible by the T I'm pretty much game...

Just to let everyone here know: Lilli and I met in Somerville this past Tuesday at 7:30. Where was everyone else? I had to drive an HOUR to Somerville; surely anyone living in and around Boston could have made it if they wanted to. We ended up having a good time anyway. I hope more people will show up the next time.

I am the same way. I am not too crazy about going into the city or Somerville. I am around areas like Woburn, Burlington, Waltham. Is anyone close to these areas or wouldn't mind meeting one of those places? I am flexible.

We should set a date and place to meet. Anyone who is close to the Burlington/Waltham area or knows where it is should meet with us. Any suggestions?

Chilis is a nice central place right off the highway...
LoL my ex BF from HS works there!

Anyway....any idea on the date??

bostongirl
02-10-2003, 11:40 PM
what about somewhere that is accessible by the T or bus but is also not too much of a hassle to drive to? Some of us can't keep a car in Boston:(

TankgirlyC
02-11-2003, 11:31 AM
I think the issue here is that people in the burbs dont like going into Boston and people in BOston dont want to go to the burbs.

As much as I like Fanuel Hall I only like it when I have a place to stay since the T stops so early...and I dont like riding on it at night (unless on my way home from work direct)

Also---with the big dig..its hard to drive around in town....Even Harvard Sq. Is hard...I can NEVER find parking....and again I dont like walking around there alone.

Anyway....whats the solution? I dont know....I know that Lexington has a bus that goes from Ailwife stop right to the library in town.

HEY BOSTON PEEPS....

What about meeting at a club on Landsdown??

bostongirl
04-03-2003, 11:23 PM
Now that should be something everyone could agree on! I'd definitely be there. What club did you have in mind?

TankgirlyC
04-04-2003, 10:51 AM
I was thinking Avalon Axis.....BUT going in through Axis rather than through Avalon and saving like $5.....bet you didnt know the door at Axis is CHEAPER and has no line...and you can walk right in and into Avalon =)

If people are willing...we could go into Providence....there are some better clubs, better prices...and well I know my way around better...

One place I've always liked on Landsdown is Jake Ivory's- cover isn't bad ($8) and its just a good time... and a great place to go with a big group....plus you've gotta love the big Coronas!
