View Full Version : Do you wear sunscreen everyday?

So, I have to say I am pretty damn paranoid about wrinkles/aging. I wear sunscreen everyday (SPF 30). My foundation also has SPF in it..I think it is level 15.
I refuse to go in direct sunlight if at all avoidable. If I do go to the beach or a park or something..I wear a hat and MAJOR sunscreen.
My BF and all my girl friends think I'm crazy. Most of my friends actually tan...which I find to be completely crazy.
Am I alone in being totally anti-sun?

I wear an SPF 15 on my face and neck everyday, but not on my body. Probably during the summer I will though. I don't tan often--only the occasional vacation or trip to the beach. I don't care that I'm butt-white all summer, I don't want to be all wrinkly when I'm older!

No, you aren't alone. Several members of my family have had skin cancer, so I'm playing it safe. I wear moisturizer w/ SPF 30 (Oil of Olay) and I have another one from the lady who does my laser stuff for when I'm in the direct sunlight. I always wear sunglasses and try to wear hats and sunscreen on exposed parts in the summer, when I'm outside longer than the 10 min. walk to work.

i wear moisturizer and makeup that has sunscreen in it (spf 15). i wear it while i am in the tanning bed too so i dont get as much sun (uv rays) on my face.

I am pretty anti sun during the summer, when i'm outside because i have such fair and sensitive skin but since I'm inside for most of the day (especially during winter) I don't worry about every day stuff. I sorta worry about wrinkles, but don't they have anti-wrinkle moisturizers? I just use sunglasses to help with squinting while being in the sun. I mean I PREFER to be pale, I don't do tanning booths and always use at least spf 30 when I do use sunscreen. But especially since I'm never outside, unless some moisturizer or foundation happens to have an spf I don't generally worry about it.
Oh and my skin i so sensitive that I get heat rash if im in really hot temps too long, and i have to be careful what type of suntan lotion i use. It can't have an paba in it.

hehe, I once slathered a little girl I was babysitting in my 30 before letting her play outside... she is black, and her parents just laughed at me. I had her best interests at heart!
I wear sunblock even in the winter, but I am paranoid about skin cancer. and wrinkles. need to do better with the sunglasses though.

black people can burn too. just like there are a lot of black people (lighter skin black people) that want to be darker.

I could give a shit about wrinkles and aging, to be honest. I mean, I'm not doing anything to make it come on early, but frankly it's coming eventually anyway so I'm not sweating it. I lived in the swimming pool as a kid and was brown as a ginger cake every summer from 8-16 years old. I pretty much quit after that, mainly because my mom freaked out about skin cancer (nevermind that NO ONE in my family has it despite lifetimes spent outdoors; yes I know I could get it anyway, please no lectures - I'm quite aware).
Maybe I shouldn't be so blase about it. It's not that I'm lazy or passive about the dangers, it's just that I don't care. I'm more busy living than worrying. This is all just me and my opinion. I don't fault any of you for feeling differently. Hell, when we're all 60 I may wish I'd been more like you. :)

Me too! I had an eye exam about a month ago and they said I was starting to show signs of sun exposure, so to be sure to wear sunglasses. I should probably also wear hats more. They can make a difference when its incredibly hot out.

I am never w/out my sunnies (as has been point out to me repeatedly), and try to wear make-up w/ spf 15. I usually don't bother w/ sunscreen unless i know i'm going to be outside all day in the sun since i'm so pale. But once it gets nice out, I always try to sit outside at lunch in the sun for a bit to get some air... a little sun is actually good for you!!

I don't but I do use moisturizer on my face everyday. It would be nice to find a moisturizer with an SPF.

i feel the same way mid20. when i was little i spent all my summers by my parents pool. now i still spend it by their pool or boating or fishing. i'd rather be outdoors than cooped up indoors all summer. my mom has sat outside in the summers for the last 30 yrs and she really hardly has any wrinkles. A LOT of wrinkles comes from SMOKING!

Wrinkling/not wrinkling can also be genetic. I burn super badly, so I have to wear sunscreen.
Mid, you better put some lotion on that baby! LOL

I'm pretty much as pale as you can get without being albino so I have to be really careful in the sun. I try not to get too much. And as much as I know that the sun can be bad for you a little part of me wishes I could tan. I've tried it, you know the whole, tanning bed thing, and after a month I looked like my friend does in the middle of winter. It just doesn't happen with me and I totally accept that.
I definitely use sunscreen when I know I'm going to be outside for long periods of time, but other than that I don't use it everyday. I'm barely outside long enough for it to matter. Wish I was though, then I wouldn't be stuck behind this desk.

I spent my entire childhood and college years getting so darkly tanned I could pass for non-caucasian. I am kind of afraid I could get skin cancer or wrinkles from the past damage I've done, so I do wear moisturizer with spf 15 most every day. I have read though, that it's important to put it on a few times throughout the day, because it can tend to sweat off/evaporate/whatever.
I am absolutely obsessive about sunglasses. I am extremely light sensitive and won't go outside, even if it's cloudy, without them.
