does anyone else feel like they lose a lot of hair throughout the day? i'm constantly worried that i am going bald. it is most noticeable in the shower after i condition... so much hair seems to come out that it has me totally freaked!

i know they say it is normal to lose hair throughout the day... but come on!!!

i'm wondering if i always lost this much hair and it just seems like more to me because now my hair is brown and more visible... or if i am actually losing more. AHHHHHHH!

I just started freaking out about the amount of hair I loose. It never seemed like much, but now everytime I touch my hair I pull tons of strands out. It's all over the floor in my bathroom from when I blow dry my hair. So gross. I started taking Biotin last week and I hope that will strengthen my hair some so it will fall out less. If not, I'm buying women's Rogaine.

I shed so much it is a miracle I have any hair left on my head at all. But I don't have any bald spots or anything.

My hair fell out A LOT when I was a teen. But I think that's because I wasn't eating properly.

I googled it:

Hair loss is a natural part of the body's process of renewal. As some hair falls out, new growth replaces it. However, this process may be accelerated by a number of conditions. Hormonal changes may contribute to rapid hair loss, such as during pregnancy or childbirth, or even when coming off the Pill. As these fluctuations in hormone levels drop off, the hair loss should clear up, so the condition is only temporary. In a recent study, hormone levels were studied in both male and female patients experiencing severe hair loss. The research points towards a complex interaction between sex and thyroid hormones that may lead to the condition.

Stress is another factor linked to hair loss. While it has not been proved definitively, emotional trauma has been loosely associated with hair loss, but milder strains and worries probably do the same thing. Stresses placed on the body may also cause a woman's hair to jump ship. For example, crash dieting, in which a woman loses a large amount of weight rapidly, may also cause her to lose her tresses, too. Since stress is often transient, if its cause clears up, the resultant hair loss should disappear as well.

Kit - does your hair tangle easily? It's pretty short, right?

its about shoulder length right now. my hair is super-fine... so it looks like there isn't much, but my hairdresser always comments that i have a lot of hair, it is just thin. my hair does get pretty tangled... i HAVE to saturate it with conditioner so that i am able to comb it out when i get out of the shower.

thanks paige - i am under a LOT of stress right now... moving, job search, new bf & his surgery, major family issues. my birth control is relatively new as well... just 2 months.

I have been losing my hair since about 16 y.o. I've tried just about everything under the sun, including Biotin which is a B-vitamin. Nothing has worked. As it is I have very thin hair. I've pretty much convinced myself that if I go bald enough, I'll just buy a wig.

My hair also sheds a lot, but mainly its very thin and it seems to be getting thinner every week. I suffered somewhat of an emotional trauma some months ago and with that and my birth control, Ithink those are the culprits.

I'm also looking for biotin, but I'm not sure what store to go to. Rite-Aid didn't have it. I also always air-dry my hair and only style it weekly. Then there is also the dreaded possibility that this is hereditary. My mother can't even make a ponytail anymore.

If it wasn't for my hatred of fake hair, I'd just give up and get a weave already.

Kitalyn -

Your hair sounds a lot like mine. I sort of have the same issue as you - only its worse because I dye it blonde and every single time i do that I watch as billions of hair fall out. I still have a ton of hair though, so i'm not really worried...

I've always just shed a ton in general though. It's amazing how much hair you can watch fall out of your head without really being able to see any difference.

Excess testosterone in women can also lead to hair loss. I have been shedding more lately, but it's not coming out in clumps. My cats are shedding too, now that spring is coming, so maybe humans shed like animals? lol

Biotin is hard to find. I searched CVS and Walgreens with no luck and ended up getting it at GNC for $15 a bottle. I hope it works!

my hair is thin, but it seemed like more was falling out when i was on bc pills...my dermatologist recommended that i stop those to see if it'd help. it helped some. but it's so frustrating having thin hair...my sis has tons of hair.

oh yeah...so is biotin really supposed to help with hair? i thought that it helped with brittle nails.
