View Full Version : Where should you be living?
Spinoff of the other this-place-sucks threads...
According to this quiz (http://www.findyourspot.com), I should be living in Oregon (Portland and Eugene came in at numbers one and two, and of my top 20 cities, nine were in the state). DC came in at 10. I've never been to the Pacific Northwest, but I imagine the weather and scenery and quality of life in general are infinitely better than they are here.
Where should you be living, and how does where you currently live rank on your list (if it does at all)?

I've taken this several times an Eugene comes up every time. I lived in Seattle for a year after college, close to Oregon. I would definetly reccomend living in the NW.

My list is certainly on target: The top 5 are Winterville, N.C., Fredericksburg, Va., Salisbury, Md., Atlantic City, N.J. and Myrtle Beach, S.C. I always knew I belonged along the Atlantic shore. :)

My top city was Norfolk, VA followed by a whole bunch of places in Texas and Oklahoma (many of which I never heard of............).

My top were Minneapolis, MN; Columbus, OH and St. Louis, MO. I think I would like Minneapolis. Ohio not so much. I wanted really cold places and that's what I got.

Hmm. I tend to get a lot of northwest locations too on that site. Mostly cities in Oregon. Though I've gotten a lot of New England cities too. Where I currently live isn't even a blip on the radar screen. (No surprise there.)

This only confirms my love affair with California.

1. Norfolk, VA
2. Chesapeake-Virginia Beach, VA
3. Charlotte, NC
4. Hickory, NC
5. Oklahoma City, OK
What's funny is I've lived in Chesapeake, which is of course right next to Norfolk, and I've lived in Charlotte, which is right by Hickory. Well, kind of. So I've already covered four out of my top five.

I took it and this said Norfolk, VA is my ideal, which I would have to agree with but it has lost all legitamacy since it actually recommeded that someone should live in Atlantic City.

Outside of the casinos, isn't AC kinda ghetto and scary? There is a cute little town right over the bridge on the water though, called Brigantine. My ex-boyfriend from college, his mom used to live there.

Kinda nothing, AC is a shitpile with more crack-whores per mile than anywhere! That being said it is a GREAT place to go to college, because you can always just wind up there at 4 in the morning without your shirt running down the boardwalk... not that this would ever happen to me.... more than two times. :huge:

Yeah, of my top 5 choices, Atlantic City was the one where I was like, What the fuck? They probably gave me that because I said I liked the nightlife.

By nightlife do you mean, murdered and have your body dumped in Absecon?

I am from New Hampshire, and surprise surprise, ALL of my answers were New England or Oregon (what is their infatuation with Oregon???). But if they have nice beaches, I could do it!

Ha ha my first choice was little rock arkansas! You can't pay me enough money to live there. Oddly enough, the second choice Santa Cruz, California is actually my favorite town and a place I've always wanted to live. Honolulu was on the list as well (almost moved there) and Portland, OR too :)

What's funny is that Gaithersburg, MD actually popped up as one of the places I should live. I work in Gaithersburg! Hmmm maybe it's a sign...

Colorado is really nice I LOVE it out there. The only downside is the proximity to the ocean :( It's a young state with lots of young people and it's soooo beautiful.

Carlisle is pretty lame-ass, from what I've seen, although it is right outside of the state capitol.

Norfolk, VA was also my #1 place to live.
I've taken this quiz several times and it always plunks me down in VA and NC. Maybe it's a sign. At any rate, my top 5 are as follows:
Norfolk, VA
Hampton, VA
Charlotte, NC
Greenville, NC
El Paso, TX
Any thoughts on any of these places?

Wow, way to pick some obscure small towns! I grew up in a small town though and I apparently miss it from the quiz results...
my #8 town was Charlottesville, VA which I lived in for four years when I was in college and I miss it terribly - it was such a great place to live. Every time I look at pictures I feel homesick - too bad there aren't any companies located there where my husband could work! When he gets his PhD later this year we will move wherever he finds a job since he will be looking for something very very specific, and I can find a job in any city a lot more easily than him. I did give him a few vetos, though - I need hills/mountains and definite seasons so no moving to Florida! :)
