My doc advised me to eat Tums every once in a while to boost my calcium.

And she told me that we build calcium until we are 30, then we start losing it so we have to build it up now because later on it will be too late!

I am so damn scared of osteoporosis (spelled correctly?).

My grandma had it and it scares the hell out of me. I don't drink milk so I'm paranoid i'll get it.

Same with me. I hate milk, so I take calcium pills to compensate. :)

I take calcium pills too, but I don't think its as good as getting it from a natural source. I do like frozen yogurt though!

i was just listening to this cd i have of this doctor talking about healthy eating & women's relationship to food. she mentions that tums is not an adequate way to get calcium. an ingredient in it actually inhibits calcium absorption. i'll have to listen again bc now i forget what the ingredient is.

1. Doctors don't know everything--shocking, I know.
2. Doctors don't take nutrition classes in med school.

Yeah but I don't go to your average doc. She studies Alternative Medicine, I go to this Health and Healing Clinic, its awesome.

Maybe her alternative medicine doesn't include food? I don't know...that's pretty random that she didn't know that about Tums.
