So what do you all love and/or hate about the 80's?

I loved Bon Jovi. (Okay, I still do. Jon Bon Jovi that is. I'd like to do things to him . . .)

I loved those ankle socks with the fuzzy balls on the back.

I loved Nerds candy.

I hated the big hair.

I'm sure I'll come up with more, but this just gets things going.

So I was just thinking about the actual "I love the 80's" show on VH1. Did anyone else find it really annoying when they had Raven Simone on there commenting about stuff? I was like, "You were basically in-utero in the 80's!"
She was hardly out of diapers on the Cosby Show. She just wishes she could be so cool as to have lived through that decade . . .

Kitty

How many I Love the 80's shows are there are Vh1?!? For awhile there it seems like they were always on. It was kind of cool the first time I watched it, but its seriously annoying now.

Well, there really can only be ten episodes, right? I mean, they did a year in each episode...

Stuff I remember fondly from the 80s

-Garbage Pail Kids cards
-crimped hair
-Guitar-driven hair bands - RAWK!
-non-angry rap/hip hop
-Super Mario Brothers
-teenybopper perfume like Love's Baby Soft

Stuff that makes me cringe in retrospect (mostly fashion)

-acid washed denim
-HUUUUUGE glasses
-shoulder pads
-jewel tone makeup
-mostly lame TV
-stirrup pants (not leggings, I loved leggings)

Kitty

I actually think there was more than one per year. Wasn't there something called "I love the 80's strike back!" and "I love the 80's part deux!"

Maybe i'm wrong, its quite possible I lost track.

I have to post this now:

Tiffany actually came and sang on my college campus about three years ago: no big stage, just a small set-up outside at the student union. There was this guy standing right in front of her while she sang her new songs (trying to make herself known again), waving the old vinyl record of hers, and yelling, "I love you Tiffany! I love you! Please sing 'I think we're alone now'!" She looked so annoyed, finally gave up on her new songs, and sang the one song everyone actually went there to hear.

She signed autographs later, and I think I got some promotion postcard they were handing out signed by her, just for the emotional satisfaction that, yes, I lived through the 80's and saw a once-loved 80's star for free in the 2000's. :p

Debbie Gibson was at this kid's fair in RI a few years ago. I went with my cousins and the promoter was all "tell them she was the Britney of your day!!!" UM NO. I heard a few lines of "shake your love" and then I ran.

Whoops, it's DEBORAH. My bad.

A scary sight was a couple years ago i went to the Big E w/ my mother and Rick Springfield was playing. Nothing more frightening than middle-aged women screaming like teenagers and then asking us (me and my sister) why we weren't all excited ... uhh i like Jessie's Girl and all but he's no NKOTB. LOL.

And have you noticed how anorexic she's gotten?? She used to be this plump, cute little girl. Of course, that's not acceptable anymore.

My friend's an actor... I think he was introduced to her by another one of his friends or met her at a party or something. He's not dating Deborah anymore, but they've remained friends.

To bastardize Samantha Fox (speaking of the '80s), "Famous girls need love too."
