Guys, Paiger just called me--she just got out of her doctor's appointment. They aren't really sure what's wrong with her, but the doctor said that she has to take a few weeks off from work to rest, have some tests done, etc. With all of this stress going on in her life, she can't run the fitness challenge any longer. So I think it looks like we're going to have to pull the plug on it.

That's awful--very scary! If you talk to her, please give her my best.
If you guys want to keep doing it and need someone to help monitor, I'll volunteer. I'm not taking part in the challenge, but everyone seemed so psyched, I'd love to help out in any way possible.

Send her our well-wishes! I hope everything is ok
And I definitely think we should continue the challenge! I'm sure she would feel bad if we stopped on her account. We don't need points, just motivation!

Joking about it makes it a bit easier to deal with,IMO.
Last night my parents kept calling me & stressing me out, because they were so serious.
It was nice to call them today and say "I'm just an Anemic Hypoglycemic"

Don't forget it was Bugsey34's idea, we just helped make it come to life
I told Pisces that if things got "out of hand" to let y'all know it was a joke. But my example of "out of hand" was someone posting "Paige was such a bitch, I'm glad she's gone" :p

You tricked us! Man, I go off the boards for an hour and look what happens.
Anyway, I was just going to say that my husband has Type I diabetes (the kind you have to control with insulin injections) and I know all too much about monitoring blood glucose levels from living with him for five years (he even makes me check myself sometimes just to make sure I'm in a healthy non-diabetic range!) so if you have any questions definitely ask me. Not that I'm a medical authority or anything but I've had day-in, day-out experience for awhile now...

The only thing that confused me is that I asked the doc what a "normal" blood level would be. His response "Well, it's different for each person"
That doesn't help me.

Oh, that's true about how it's different for every person. I know Tim's are always a lot higher than mine (and varies more throughout the day) since he's diabetic even though he's got it under control with the insulin. Every time he tests me I'm in the 70s or 80s, while his goes up as high as 250 sometimes.
You know what you could do since you have the monitor now is to make a point of checking yourself at certain times throughout the day and keep a record. Tim does it at least four times per day (once before each meal and then again right before bed). He has a little Excel spreadsheet - prints it out blank and keeps it folded up with his monitor so he can write it down every time he checks, then at the end of the month he types all the numbers in and calculates the averages and prints it out to take to the endocrinologist (he goes every three months). It sounds like a pain, but if you did this for even one month and showed it to your doctor it might help reveal some trends so you all can figure out how to solve/manage the problem in the long term.

Ok, reading that I was all set to send a get-well card, and then I see April fools... tsk tsk on all of you!! But anyway Paige, glad it's nothing too serious, and can be controlled!
But now that I think about it, didn't say WB pull one last year? I'm trying to remember...

That was a really mean joke.
I'm very relieved to hear you're OK though! I mean, relatively - anemia and hypoglycemia are manageable conditions that shouldn't cramp your style.
