A bit of background, most of my life I was so anti-cigarettes. I never smoked a cigarette until I was about 22 and I did it on a dare while drunk. I've smoked maybe twice after that until I graduated.

Then I became a smoker in secret - I didn't want to deal with my mother so I'd smoke outside when she wasn't home or I'd smoke at work or in my car on the way to or from work. (My job then was horrible, I felt I NEEDED the cigarette to calm down.) I got a new car (which I wouldn't let myself smoke in) and eventually I kind of stopped. Which was good.

Fast forward to me moving out here, about a month ago, I just had a huge craving for a cigarette and I caved and bought a pack. I smoked a few at home but refused to let myself carry them with me. I was actually feeling pretty good about smoking them. Until of course, tonight, when I caved again because I'm a freaking nervous wreck about everything that's happened.

So if anyone has any good tips for a "stress smoker" not to do this really gross deadly habit, I'm all ears.

Yeah I'm kind of in the same boat. I wasn't really a smoker until a year and a half ago. But then I moved offices and I started smoking on my way to and from work to kind of have "something to do". Then I started smoking more when I went out. I probably had at least 2 a day. Now I'm at a point where I will stop for a couple weeks or so and then I'll cave and buy a pack. I will say though that hearing about Peter Jennings having lung cancer has kind of freaked me out. I really don't have advice. I guess trying to keep busy with other stuff can help keep you from being bored or keep your mind off things, then maybe you won't crave a cigarette.

Imagine a very large man giving you a swift kick in the ass since you know smoking is stupid.

Imagine that you got those cigarrettes in jail and where they had to have been put to sneak em in.

Lastly, buy the gum so at least you're not killing innocent people.

Have you seen Constantine? Because seriously he has got to be the best anti-smoking ad. My who was a social smoker, only on certain occasions now won't even pick up a cig because of the movie. If you have seen it, just picture Keanu Reeves in the movie and everything he does. If not, see it when it comes out! Because you don't want to end up like him in the movie. (Basically has terminal lung cancer from smoking, then you see him cough up a ton of blood in his bathroom, he cleans himself up, walks out of the bathroom and proceed to smoke 5 cigarettes. You have to see it to get the full effect though)
