First of all, I am sorry to hear about your Uncle. I lost both of my grandmothers to cancer and it can be a sad, slow death.

Second of all, do you deal with a lot of foreign customers in the call center that you work in? I was accused by my boss of being terse with a foreign customer that called in from New York City. She was asking 10 million questions about our products that we sell and if we had the items in stock. Her accent didn't help matters either. To be quite honest she was getting rather cloying with me. I am also very annoyed, for example with our Asian customer base for constantly wanting to do price matches with other retailers.
I seem to have this problem with our foreign customer base. I don't know if it is the language barrier, or the fact that these folks are used to doing business differently than I am. How do you deal at your job? Any advice or pointers?
