And the Rams’ new D-Coordinator will likely be suspended the year as well.

So a boatload of NFL news in the past couple days

    -- Peyton Manning to Denver
    -- Tebow to the Jets
-- Saint's coach Sean Payton suspended for the year and Saints lose a couple draft picks (also Rams DC suspended indefinitely, with a review after the season)

I think the Sean Payton thing was really surprising; I'm used to college football where Ohio State can pay players and they get a puny one-year bowl ban. When I read to headline, it was a "whoa" moment, because when the original news about the bounty program came out, I didn't really think it was that big a deal. I think it's safe to say that no one will be running a bounty program any time soon.

Peyton Manning to Denver -- I would be really happy if I was a Denver fan, even if he's not 100%. A 80% Peyton Manning is still better than a 100% Tebow.

Tebow to Jets. That's going to end badly. One of the strangest/luckiest players I can remember and really has no business being a QB in the NFL. The Jets still don't have a QB worth a shit.

I'm disgusted at this Sean Payton news, primarily because when Belichick got caught cheating he was only fined $500,000 and no suspension, with a loss of a first round pick (which didn't matter because of trades).

Compare that to Payton's 16 game suspension, loss of salary ($6 Million), and two 2nd round picks.

So the moral is that a incentive-based "bounty" is more harmful to the integrity of the sport than full-on cheating?

The thing I don't get is the bounties weren't for that much money comparatively; I think I heard the highest one was $10k for knocking Favre out of the NFC Championship, which for the players is like us buying someone a cup of coffee. Why did they even bother? I think Goodell just really gets a bug up his ass about anything related to player safety.

There was a lot more to the bounty thing than just the bounties. Every team does that.

The penalties were so harsh because 1) the NFL investigated in 2010 and the coaching staff lied to them several times about the issue. 2) some of the bounties were paid by an outside person, who was previously convicted of defrauding the NFL and is possibly linked to gambling. He is the same guy responsible for paying Reggie Bush when he was at USC, eventually getting that program in trouble.

Tim Tebow and New York City--there's a match made in Rick Santorum's hell!

Every time I read about the Cardinals in spring training, I see something about how hot the pitching is. Even Jake Westbrook threw a shutout the other day, and he can't pitch! Cardinals pitching (at least the starters) is going to be a thing of beauty this year. If our boys can hit, we'll go from 11 in '11 to 12 in '12!

My friend who moved to Bah-ston felt compelled to tell me just now that he picked up Adam Wainwright and Carlos Beltran for his fantasy baseball league.

Friend: "Just wanted to tell you I think I have good Cards representation on my fantasy team. No Pirates or Cubs. "

Me: "I don't care about the Pirates. But if you pick any Cubbies, I'ma come out there and beat your motherfucking ass! "

Ah yes, baseball season is almost here.

    Sports bets are always fun.

At the meeting in Columbus on Monday, one of my coach friends was there. He lives about an hour north of Cincy and he's a huge Reds fan. I hate the Reds because of that Reds player that kicked Jason LaRue in the head!

Anyway, we got to talking some friendly shit about our teams, so he decided to make it interesting--beverage of choice to be paid by the loser if either the Reds or the Cardinals win the NL Central. That's money in the bank for me--the Reds are going down! The Cardinals are going to win it all again! You heard me!!

So here's how hard it is to be a Rams fan. The Rams official Facebook page this evening had the following entry: "The St. Louis Rams are searching for enthusiastic, talented and energetic young women to be members of the renowned entertainment and public relations team – the St. Louis Rams Cheerleaders! Register online now. Tryouts begin April 15. "

Now I love the Rams cheerleaders and normally I don't do snide comments on official pages, but this just begged for it. I posted a reply to this post: "Are the Rams searching for enthusiastic, talented, and energetic young wide receivers? #justsayin" Cause we didn't last year and look where it got us!

Did it make me feel better to do that? Yes, much.

Albert can choke on that, the greedy cocksucker!

It was a good game. Way to come out of the gate with all guns blazing, Cards! I might have to hit up a game this year by visiting my sister.

And Muhammad Ali looked old as dirt... wow, I kinda felt bad for him. That wasn't much of a first pitch, he couldn't even hold the ball.

Joey Votto got the contract from Cincinnati that Pujols wouldn't get from St. Louis--12 years, $251 million.

In unrelated news, the city of Cincinnati, anticipating higher tax revenues, has announced a 20% increase in city graft.

    Cardinals 11, Brewers 5.

Only 160 more games till St. Louis is 162-0.

In other news, Royals @ Angels tonight. Dammit! I always expect the Royals to lose, but I really want the Angels to lose!

The St. Louis Cardinals without Albert Pujols--4-1.

The Anaheim Angels with Albert Pujols--2-2, including dropping two to Kansas City. Hahahahahahahahahahahaha!!

Albert Pujols' start in Anaheim--3 for 14 with one RBI and two strikeouts.

Carlos Beltran's start in St. Louis--7 for 22 with two home runs.

    Revenge is a bitch!
