I have been to several good punk shows in the past few years...stuff from the 70s and 80s like Tom Verlaine (of Television), The English Beat, the New York Dolls (new lineup, but Sylvain Sylvain and David Johanson are still in the band), and Bad Religion. The last good punk show I went to was actually the New York Dolls, and that was only a year or so ago, so I have no complaints.

I want to see Placebo this year, but Brian Molko canceled the entire North American tour, so that's not happening. They weren't going to come to my town anyway.

The thing I want more than anything is to see the Smashing Pumpkins with D'arcy Wretzky and James Iha in the band. They're going on another world tour and I WILL NOT see them without my two favorite members.

I saw them in 2000, but it was without D'arcy. She had quit by that point. I saw the Pumpkins on their 2008 tour. It was awesome for about half the time and then they played their new metal stuff I can't get into. I tend to gravitate to the 1992-1998 stuff.

Kind of wish I would have seen Maiden on their Somewhere Back in Time tour.

I just saw Julian Plenti of Interpol play some of his solo stuff live. Pretty cool show!

Saw the Pietasters a couple of weeks ago. Not a huge crowd but definitely a good time.

Just bought tickets to see Vampire Weekend in January and John Mayer in February. Looking forward to both shows.

I saw Peter Bjorn and John at Club Nokia on Saturday and it was a lot of fun! The two opening bands were really good too. Before that I hadn't been to a show in a couple of years.

Hmm. I still think Corgan fired her. But I am envious of you - I love them! I hope it was a lot of fun!

Funny story: I had a copy of Siamese Dream from their heyday. Got it from Wal-Mart or something like that (along with my "Tonight, Tonight" poster, which I believe my brother and I ripped up while having an epic, stupid fight. Or maybe that was a different poster. I had a lot of posters back in the day!) No track listing on the back, though. That "Silverfuck" song must have been too much for family values, so it got censored.

I remember the big-box stores did that with Nirvana, too. "Waif Me." Yeah, right.

yeah i sure hear that. not to mention jimmy chamberlain, now it's just billy and some faceless, albeit technically talented hired guns. that's not smashing pumpkins. you could argue he "is" smashing pumpkins or whatever, but this is the kind of band you want to see with its original members on board, its not like nine inch nails or something, changing members every tour, so that argument is a bit of a stretch i would say. but whatever, that guy, for all his undeniably excellent 90s output, is the world's most enormous, egotistical douchebag, and is insanely desperate to stay relevant.

also, the best live performance i ever saw was my bloody valentine last year, for the sake of mention. and ive seen a lot of amazing shows, so thats saying a lot.

One of the local radio stations is hosting an acoustics show featuring Third Eye Blind and Five for Fighting this Friday night. A friend and I are going to check it out.

I remember having a crush on Stephan Jenkins ten years ago ha!

A local radio station did an acoustic thing with Stephen Jenkins like six or seven years ago. It was at a local bar/restaurant, very small. It took a lot of work to get in and to sneak into the main room and then he played four songs. Four! That was it!

I did actually meet Stephen another time at a normal 3EB show. He just signed my ticket and talked a little bit. Seemed friendly.
