How Long Is Too Long To Wait For A Call Back?

I had an interview with a great company just after Labor Day. I had a good phone interview and the lady said she would let me know either way. I emailed her about 2 weeks later to say I was still interested and to ask if I was still in the decision process. (In my interview, she informed me that I was one of 3 candidates that the company decided to interview.) She said she was still in the interviewing process. I emailed her Tuesday (?) to see what was going on because I still hadnt heard anything either way. When emailing her before, she would get right back to me that same day, usually within a couple of hours. I have not heard from her yet and it's Friday, a month and a half after my interview. I'm sure they've had time to interview the other 2 candidates. I'm almost positive they dont want me because its taking so long and come on, a month and a half to interview 3 people? Was one of them in Russia or something? I just want to know if I should give up on this or write her again in a couple of weeks if I still havent heard anything. I really wanted this job, it was in my field and it was exactly what I was looking for... EXACTLY, down to the last detail. Also, if they do want me, am I sure I want this job if it takes them this long to give an answer on 3 people? What about when I need to get a budget approved ASAP or something else like that?

first off, i don't necessarily think it's too late. my brother got a job for which his first interview was like 3 months prior to the offer. and when he called, they would be like 'we are discussing an offer...' for 2-3 weeks! then he got the job, and he's there, and he's happy.

also, you are probably dealing with HR, and unless you are applying for a job in HR it won't really affect you if they are inefficient. that was the deal with my brother... the HR woman he was dealing with had to get approval from a bazillion people, which was the reason it took so long for her to give him a definite answer...
