I read quiz bowl questions at tournaments as often as possible. I'm one of the best there is.

I just got invited to work a tournament by a coach I don't even know. That's so gratifying. Of course, what does it say that I'll accept an invitation from a coach I don't even know??

Even better, this fills the last empty Saturday I had this season. I'll be working tournaments 14 consecutive weekends. I wanted to work more events now that I don't work Saturdays anymore. I'm getting my wish.

I played cards tonight for one of the few times in months. It felt good, but it didn't have the same snap it used to. I ended up losing, partly to bad luck and partly to bad play.

I've always said quiz bowl is the one thing I can't screw up. I won four state championships (and three All-State awards) in high school, so I was doing something right.

I help out mostly here in Missouri, but I go out of state when the opportunity arises.

I'm playing a quiz bowl tournament today for the first time in three years. I'm playing solo, it sounds like; I'm just hoping to win one or two games. Wish me luck!

I'm sorry - either we don't have that out east or I'm just oblivious. What exactly is quiz bowl?

Steph, you have a kid. It's reasonable for you to be tired by 90! However, it isn't reasonable for me to be tired by 90 every night. I fell asleep at 8:37 last night

Your comment about your habits rubbing off on your husband made me chuckle. My FI is now "reading" - his version of "reading" involves listening to Dean Koontz audiobooks. I at least got him to listen to audiobooks while I read Middlemarch.

Nice! I've wanted to get ankle tats in Cyrillic for a LONG time, but I can't find anybody in town who can properly write the script in the size I want.

Does that mean that you can unload your passengers, but load up their luggage...and drive off?

I finished dead last Saturday. Didn't win any games, but one went to the last question. It was the hardest set of questions I've ever played in my career, so it was a bit of a learning curve.

I still finished fourth in individual scoring, so I won the book of my choice. It was down to only two, so I took Henry Fielding by Tom Jones.

Some of the correct answers I had:

Lincoln's Second Inaugural Address
Lysozomes
Manitoba
The Fugitive Slave Act
Santoria (the religion). I've been waiting for that question for years!

Both teams that I coach lost yesterday. One was in overtime and the other was in double overtime. I think I aged at least a year between the 2 games.
