Need Apartment in NYC!

Hello everyone,
I'm sitting here taking a break from the nonsense on the web when trying to find an apartment in NYC. It is so frustrating. I could use a broker, but it's so expensive (15%, or sometimes a month's rent)! The "resource" sites want less money ($200) but I can't be sure which ones are for real and which ones to steer clear of. If anyone out there has had success with one of these sites, PLEASE let me know!
Thanks, Joie
P.S. I live on the UES right now, looking for a 1BR, not picky about what neighborhood, as long as it's Manh.

Have you thought about renting a room? If so, try roommaterservice.com.

Thanks for the reply, but my BF and I live together. We've got a SMALL studio and just want something a little bigger.

Try http://www.homestore.com

I used it to find my current apartment. They sometimes have specials that the other sites don't.I also like that you can search by ZIP,Property Name,College or by Proximity to Address. They also list ads from realtors.

Good luck!

try http://newyork.craigslist.org/
they have lots of no fee listings. but then again, this is nyc. be realistic. everything is expensive, and if it sounds too good to be true, it probably is.
good luck.
