It's a scientific fact that stress hormones down-regulate genes and promote disease.
Our thoughts can make us sick
And, because it's proven that our thoughts can make us sick, the opposite is also true - OUR THOUGHTS CAN MAKE US WELL.
The concept of being a "habitual construct"
A habit is a redundant set of automatic thoughts, behaviors, and emotions that are acquired through repetition
This is a situation where your body feels like it knows how to do certain things better than the mind
What do most people do? They wake up in the morning and they immediately start thinking about their problems.
IF THE BRAIN IS A RECORD OF THE PAST, THEN THE MOMENT YOU START YOUR DAY, YOU ARE ALREADY THINKING IN THE PAST.
Then, most people immediately reach for their phones - because that's what leads to feelings of connection. Then you go into a routine of familiar behaviors. That becomes the program and, all of the sudden, you have lost your free will.
When it comes time to change, the redundancy of that cycle becomes a subconscious program, now 95% of who are are by the time we are 35 years old, is this program and a memorized set of behaviors.
EMOTIONS - the end product of past experiences
HOW YOU THINK AND HOW YOU FEEL CREATES YOUR STATE OF BEING
If this holds true, the familiar past will soon be the predictable future
If you believe your thoughts contribute to your destiny, and if you can't think greater than how you feel, then you are thinking in the past, and for the most part you are going to keep thinking in the same light and your life will be predictable
How do you make changes to snap out of habit and restricting routine?
You have to get beyond the analytical mind - which is where meditation comes in because you can teach yourself to change your brain waves
MOST PEOPLE WAIT FOR A TRAGEDY TO DECIDE TO CHANGE. DON'T WAIT - BE PROACTIVE.
Why do people find it so hard to get past trauma?
The stronger the emotional reaction - the more you pay attention to the cause
This is caused by memory
Long-term memories are created from very highly emotional experiences
Refractory period - if you allow the emotional reaction to impact your life for extended period of time (several days), the reaction and the state it caused are now a "mood"
"Mood" eventually turns into "temperament" which eventually turns into a "personality trait"
The whole key to avoiding this is to SHORTEN THE REFRACTORY PERIOD
The reason why people keep recalling an event, particularly a negative one, is because they are telling themselves, "pay attention to what happened because you want to be prepared if it were to happen again."
Many people spend 70% of life living in survival and living in stress - always anticipating the worst case scenario based on prior experiences
This is essentially conditioning the body into a state of fear
The emotions from an experience give you a rush of energy.
Every time you recall the event, you start to feel the same energy as if the event were occurring. The body doesn't know the different, and as a result, the body is believing it's living the past experience.
THE HARDEST THING ABOUT CHANGE IS NOT MAKING THE SAME DECISIONS YOU MADE THE DAY BEFORE.
THE MOMENT YOU DECIDE TO MAKE A DIFFERENT CHOICE, IT'S GOING TO FEEL UNCOMFORTABLE.
Your body is your unconscious mind.
If you start thinking about a future scenario, the body doesn't know the different between the event and what you're thinking.
THE BEST WAY TO PREDICT YOUR FUTURE IS TO CREATE IT
What thoughts do you want?
What behaviors do you want to demonstrate?
Close your eyes and mentally rehearse the actions that you want
If you are truly present, your body won't be able to tell the difference, and you'll be feeling those ideal conditions
Teach your body emotionally what the future will feel like ahead of the actual experience.
You can't wait for wealth in order to feel abundant. The feeling needs to precede the result
Newtonian World - all about the predictable (feel comes before cause)
Quantum World - all about causing an effect (cause comes before feel)
YOU CAN'T FEEL LIKE A VICTIM - YOU NEED TO REVERSE THE THINKING, YOU ARE THE CREATOR OF YOUR REALITY
If you're not being defined by a vision of the future, then you are left with the memories of the past and you will be predictable in your life.
Your environment is controlling how you think and feel.
To change is to be greater than your environment.
Why is meditation a tool?
Allows disconnection from the outer environment
There comes a lot of power in being able to sit your body down, stay, and obey
If you are truly not experiencing anything, not eating, not smelling, etc. - then you are truly being defined purely by thought
WHERE YOU PLACE YOUR ATTENTION IS WHERE YOU PLACE YOUR ENERGY
The body is no longer the mind
Liberation of energy - you move from particle to wave, from matter to energy, and free yourself from the emotions that keep you in the past
The Frontal Lobe is 40% of your entire brain
Most people, when you have a thought, you think it's the truth
This means, because people have roughly 60,000-70,000 thoughts a day, and 90% of all thoughts are the same as the day before, and if you believe your thoughts contribute to your destiny
Thoughts -- Choice -- Behavior -- Experience -- Emotion
The act of becoming conscious -- meta-cognition
The more conscious you become of those unconscious thoughts, then the more you recognize it and the more you check it and can change it
Meditation -- to become familiar with
You can retire your old self as you begin to recognize it
We learn the most about ourselves and others when we are uncomfortable - however, the hard part is that the moment you become uncomfortable, normally a subconscious program jumps in
We can turn on the stress response just by thought alone - which means our thoughts can make us sick. If this is possible, our thoughts can then also make us well.
What are some emotions connected to survival?
Anger, aggression, hostility, hatred, competition, fear, anxiety, pain, suffering, guilt, envy, jealousy
We remember traumatic events more because we're often feeling survival emotions during times of trauma
Eipgenetics ----- epi (above the gene)
1% of people are born with a genetic condition
Which means 95-99% of conditions are created by lifestyle and choices
